Lorenzina Frances Marhoff, age 79 of Warren, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was born October 5, 1941 in Detroit, daughter of the late Paul and the late Chechina (nee: Mistretta) LaPinta.
As a Microbiologist in the field of medicine, Lorenzina was a part of an extremely intellectual and specified realm of work that called upon the utmost of her mental faculties,…which, as we all know, can be immensely taxing on our mind and body. So all the more that she would have a few pastimes and work escapes that could bring balance to an otherwise hectic world. To those who really knew Lorenzina, they’ll attest to her love of traveling as being one of the escapes that she treasured most. Though she often wished that travel would have played a more prominent role in her pleasure seeking moments, Lorenzina also felt extremely blessed to have enjoyed adding the cities of Paris, France and Rome, Italy to her impressive portfolio of places visited in her lifetime.
In Lorenzina’s younger years, she was known for her love of sports,…especially when it came to the game of volleyball. Not merely watching the game, but participating in the sport as well. Not only did it afford Lorenzina a wonderful source of exercise, but she found great joy in being a part of a team and sharing their wins together. Much to her chagrin, the day came that age would dictate her abilities to further play, but supporting the sport from home remained a steady diet of pleasure and fun.
Lorenzina was also a “True Michigander”…as noted by her immense satisfaction for the game of Euchre. Nothing said fun as much as gathering some family or friends around the card table, slingin’ some cards, and sharing some friendly banter,…right up until the hands began slamming on the table and the challenges ensued. It was an interesting way of getting wound up amongst fellow card sharks, yet sharing the love at the same time. And you just have to ponder,…just how have all the left-leaning Euchre aficionados been dealing with the games terminology of “Trump” these past four years?
And speaking of left-leaning, this country has known few Democrats who have been as passionate about their politics as Lorenzina. She possessed a sharp mind, a keen sense of the news, and a loyalty to her party that was both esteemed and noteworthy amongst her fellow patriots. She must have been quite proud and honored to witness the new presidency,…and even more grateful that she no longer has to call “Trump” any more.
Yet of all that she was most passionate about, nothing could trump the joys and blessings that accompanied the times spent in the presence of family & friends. The most beautiful things in life, really,…have nothing to do with things, rather the gifts of love in one’s life. Lorenzina knew this all-too-well, and coveted each moment she was given to make those precious memories to last a lifetime. It is those memories that will keep her close at heart and mind, and will be a constant reminder that her loved one’s now have a Guardian Angel watching over them. She leaves a legacy of love to be embraced by those who were blessed to know her and be loved by her. She will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
Lorenzina was the beloved wife of Stephen Wrobel. Dearest mother of the late John Marhoff, the late Kurt Marhoff, and stepmother of Stephen, Julie (James) Wojewnik, and Melissa. Loving grandmother of Terri, Jackie, Grant, Chase; great-grandmother of Claire, Hayden, Rocco, Vincent; and step-grandmother of Ava and Alivia.
A Memorial Mass for Lorenzina and her son Kurt will be held Saturday, May 1st at 12:30pm at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile Rd, Warren, MI 48088.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
