Lottie Lewandowski, age 78, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 21, 2009. She was born on January 27, 1931 in Detroit, the daughter of Michael and Antionette Czuchaj. The beloved wife of Melvin (known to many as "Pini"), she goes ahead of her "groom" with whom she has spent the past 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a home,...nurtured a family,...and, truly, lived the example of a "couple in love" that touched the hearts of all who knew them, especially their children. Along with being a loving mom, grandmother and homemaker, Lottie was also an accomplished hairdresser and worked her magic with many-a-hairdo over the years. She was a very talented and creative artist, seamstress, cook and gardener who enjoyed many awards for the "best landscaped home" in her subdivision. She loved arts & crafts, golf, watching baseball and most importantly, her family. But of all her passions, the little "cuddly one" she leaves behind will surely miss her presence ~ her bichon frise / pomeranian pal, "Angel." She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for her great inner strength and for the love she had for her family and friends. Along with her beloved husband, Lottie leaves three children; Gary (Lori), Barb and David (Paulette). Loving grandmother of Eric, Steph, Lisa, Kristy, Carly, Alex and Megan. Dearest sister of Jean Green, Michael Czuchaj and Ted (Judy) Czuchaj. She was preceded in death by parents, Michael and Antionette, and brother, Stanley. A "Celebration of Rememberance" memorial service will be held for Lottie on Tuesday, February 24th at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent, in Lottie's name, to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. For those unable to attend the memorial service, the family wishes to share the verse below in tribute to their loved one. "I'm Free" Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took God's hand when I heard the call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day; to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me ~ God wanted me now, God set me free. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. Please share memories of Lottie at her guest book.
