Louis Douglas Elrod, 73, of Warren died Monday, June 4 at Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Mr. Elrod was born August 5, 1933 in Baxter, TN to Louis and Nancy Elrod. At the age of 9, Louis moved to Michigan. In 1954 Louis married the love of his life, Regina. They became residents of Warren in the early '90's. Mr. Elrod retired from the City of Detroit, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for almost 30 years. He also spent some time working as a union steward. Mr. Elrod was a sports fanatic. He loved professional sports, but also loved to see his granddaughters play high school sports. His other favorite hobby was reading, especially westerns. Mr. Elrod is survived by his wife of 52 years, Regina; children, Nancy (Ted) Krentkowski and Frank (Valerie); grandchildren, Laura, Vanessa and Mercedes. Memorial visitation for Mr. Elrod will take place Friday from 5-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 1/2 Mile). A memorial Mass will be said Saturday, 11:30 am at St. Edmund Catholic Church.
