Louise Siladke, age 97 of Warren, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Medilodge of Sterling Heights. She was born on September 11, 1913 in Hamtramck, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (nee: Matela) Kowalski. Like many of the polish, old world Mom's out there, Louise was no stranger to the kitchen. She sure knew how to work her magic when it came to the familiar polish fare, and there never was a hungry belly that left her table. She was also quite adept as a seamstress, having made countless outfits throughout the years. When it came to lettin' her hair down and steppin' out, her favorite venue of choice was the casino. She always found great enjoyment in challenging Lady Luck and the ever-familiar, one-armed bandits! But without question, her favorite pastime was enveloped within her voracious appetite for reading. Whatever was in print, she ate it up. And perhaps, her inclination for reading was derived through her desire in keeping up on all current events. Whatever was provocative and newsworthy, Louise always craved the facts. She was forever a fount of knowledge and truly enjoyed engaging people on worldly affairs. She was as sharp as a tack and knew what she believed. Visiting with her was always a learning experience. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Louise leaves behind a special legacy of love that will be cherished by all who carry her, lovingly, in the warmth of their hearts and memories. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank. Dear mother of Douglas (Jane) Siladke and Russell Siladke. Loving grandmother of Lisa Marie, Michael Anthony (Jennifer), and great-grandmother of Kayla and Jacob. Visitation for Louise will be held on Saturday, May 21st from 5-9pm and sunday, May 22nd from 2-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service on Sunday, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Monday from 9:00am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to the American Heart Association. Please share memories of Louise at her guest book.
