Born in Detroit to the late Frank and Helen Brabenec, Magdalene was a woman who found her greatest joy at home, creating a warm and welcoming space for those she loved most. Whether it was preparing her famous goulash, baking a special cake every year for her daughter’s birthday, or working her way through the Yellowstone cookbook (tagging her favorite recipes along the way), Magdalene’s love was most often expressed through simple, heartfelt gestures. She was a self-taught seamstress to mend whatever needed attention, an extension of her caring nature. When out and about, she often stopped by her favorite bakeries, always thinking of what treat she could bring home to share. Magdalene had a deep love for animals and a spirited side that shone through in cherished memories like the cruise to Hawaii she shared with her husband Dennis on their 25th anniversary, or the back-to-back concerts where she saw her favorite band, The Rolling Stones, followed by Cher the very next night. This past year, Magdalene was lucky to find a group of great friends who she loved spending time with and gave her some of the happiest times since the passing of her beloved husband, and for that her family was very grateful. Magdalene will be dearly missed by those who survive her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dennis McClellan for over 47 years, and a devoted mother to Kathleen (Doug) Germain. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank (Kathleen) Brabenec, and is survived by her dear nieces Sherri and Stacey, who held a special place in her heart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14th, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 6:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088. Memorial donations to the ASPCA and Michigan Humane Society are appreciated.
