Margaret Jean Buck

Margaret Jean Buck, age 86, of Warren, Michigan passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Margaret was born on May 1, 1937, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to her late parents Johann and Anna Hamrol. Margaret, “Peggy” as she preferred to be called, was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard (Benny) and nephew, Michael.

Peggy was the beloved wife of Ronald with whom she had been married for 63 years. She was the loving mother of Kathleen Buck and Kenneth Buck and “Mom #2” to Craig Rocheleau. She was the loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews and Great Aunt to their children. She was also a lifelong friend to her girlhood friend, Liz. She formed long and meaningful friendships with neighbors and whomever she met.

After having graduated as Valedictorian from Eastland High School in 1955 and having declined a scholarship to Alma College so as to help support her widowed mother, Peggy went to work for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a service representative. It was there that she finely-tuned her masterful speaking voice and calm demeanor. It was also there at Michigan Bell that Peggy’s co-worker and friend, Diana Buck Cornell, introduced her to her brother, Ron, and set up a “blind date” which resulted in magic. Ron and Peg were married on June 25, 1960.

Peggy dedicated her life to caring for her family and was passionate in her role as “homemaker” and always kept a book on etiquette within reach. She was a perfectionist: no one ran a tighter ship that Peggy (“Sarge”, as some knew her). No one could fold a fitted sheet like Peggy such that it was identical to a top sheet. She was a wonderful cook and will be long-remembered for “Peggy’s apple-baked beans” as well as her lasagna, German Sauerbraten, red cabbage, her picture-perfect apple pie and fruitcakes (they really were good!) She enjoyed her home in Warren as well as in Harrisville, MI (home away from home) where the family has spent summers and many happy seasons since the 1950’s.

A Memorial Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. and again on May 2, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home in Warren located at 30009 Hoover Road in Warren, MI.
