Margaret Joann (Stafford) Derwa, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, danced into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from the comfort of her own home. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A woman whose selfless heart knew no bounds, Marge embraced life with contagious happiness, finding joy in the simple pleasures and radiating warmth to all who knew her. She was born on November 10, 1934, in Bad Axe, Michigan, to parents Clarence Stafford and Valeta Pitcher.
One of Marge’s favorite pass times was shopping. Whether it was hunting for the latest fashion bargains or discovering hidden treasures, she approached every shopping expedition with an unwavering passion that brought delight to those fortunate enough to accompany her.
But it was on the dance floor where Marge truly came alive, as she was led by the graceful movements and infectious rhythm of her beloved husband Lou. Whether it was a smooth glide or spirited steps, she danced with a genuine liveliness that mirrored the joy she brought to every aspect of her life.
Margaret also loved to spend time cooking in the kitchen. From mouthwatering hams to delicious desserts, Marge became known for her “feasts,” especially those that she would make for luncheons at Zion Church. Preparing and serving food was her way of sharing love and warmth, so she provided every meal with heartfelt care and affection.
A devout woman of faith, Margaret loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She was involved for years in the local church communities of both Zion and Kensington, where her faithful presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to others who gathered to rejoice in the Lord’s Word. Her unwavering devotion to her Lord and Savior has profoundly influenced her family and provided the foundation for a lasting Godly legacy.
Marge was a dedicated family woman. Her love for her husband, Lou, never wavered. The love she had for Lou the moment she laid eyes on him after he returned from the Military remained constant during their sixty-two year marriage. Margaret’s love and compassion for her family knew no bounds. She truly made it her purpose to let her love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the rest of her family show in all that she did. Spending time with Marge was a source of love and laughter, where memories were made and bonds were strengthened with each passing day.
Though she may no longer grace this earthly realm with her presence, the spirit of Margaret Joann Derwa lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her laughter echoes in the halls of our memories, and her love continues in the living of our lives.
Beloved wife of Charles Louis Derwa for sixty-two years; dear mother of Debra (Daniel) Collins and James Derwa; cherished grandmother of Christine (Patrick) Braun, Stephanie (John) Alfoldy, and David Collins; proud great-grandmother of Chloe and Natalie Braun; adored sister of the late Chuck Stafford, and the late Don Stafford; loving sister-in-law of the late Janet Stafford, the late Patricia Stafford, and Julie Stafford.
A celebration of Marge's life will be held at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 starting at 10:00 am, during which a memorial message to honor Marge will be shared at 11:00 am. The funeral home is located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.
Margaret Joann Derwa will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. She leaves a legacy of love and laughter shining brightly in the hearts of all who knew her, and she rejoices in the presence of God as she praises her Savior forever.
