Born on September 21, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Meg was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. James J. Maurer and Nancy Maurer. She was raised in Cincinnati and later made her home in Battle Creek and Clinton Township, Michigan, where she formed lifelong friendships and touched countless lives with her kindness, intelligence, and gentle spirit.
Meg was a proud graduate of St. Philip Catholic School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. She built a successful career in retail management, beginning with Montgomery Ward, continuing with TJ Maxx, and concluding her professional journey with Walgreens. Throughout her career, Meg was respected for her strong leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication to both customers and colleagues. Her warm personality, and thoughtful guidance left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know and work alongside her.
Outside of work, Meg found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who could often be found immersed in a good book, and she treasured spending time with friends, sharing laughter, stories, and meaningful conversations over a glass of Pinot Grigio. Her enduring friendships reflected the caring, loyal, and genuine person she was. Meg also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, the late Sally and the late Butter, who brought her great companionship and happiness throughout the years.
Above all, Meg’s greatest gift was the love and kindness she shared so freely with others. She will be deeply missed by her loving mother, Nancy Maurer; her brother, James J. Maurer; and the many dear friends who became like family over the course of her life. Her memory will be forever treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Though she is no longer with us, Meg’s compassion, strength, and enduring warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
