Marguerite Clara Lynch "Peggy", age 96 of Warren, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, Michigan. She was born on June 27, 1918 in Detroit, daughter of the late Harry and the late Lena (nee: Schmidt) Lynch.Never having been married, Marguerite's "Peggy" life was freed up to enjoy a plethora of experiences that were quite notable, especially for a woman of her era. Perhaps most intriguing & noteworthy would be her service to our country during World War II in our great United States Army. Having attained the rank of 1st Sgt, her contribution to the war effort and support of her comrades-in-arms are a testament to the incredible woman who was, truly, one of the finest in our "Greatest Generation." With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we extend our posthumous gratitude to Marguerite for her honorable and distinguished service. On the career front, Marguerite was employed as a bookkeeper, of which many years of her working experience was spent with Ford & Earl, a company within the realm of interior design. She extended the utmost in dedicated service to the firm until her retirement,…and then life REALLY began for this vivacious and interesting lady.Along with being enthralled by the world of genealogy, Marguerite was also an accomplished seamstress. She could sew just about anything, and much of her wardrobe consisted of clothing she had made herself. On one occasion, her sewing talents created quite a stir. It was not so well received at the moment, but is an entertaining reflection today. Marguerite had promised to make her sister's wedding dress and truly poured her heart and love into the daunting task. Well,…her heart kept pouring and pouring, right up until the day of the wedding,…with her sister waiting patiently while the seamstress did her thing. And the story ends wonderfully as the wedding went off without any further nail-biting moments. At any chance she could, Marguerite loved staying active and was a longtime enthusiast of the games of golf, bowling, and the season of snow found her heading for the slopes to do a bit of skiing. Amazingly, at the age of 70, Marguerite decided to tackle a challenge she had never faced as she jumped in a pool and learned to swim. She was like that Eveready Bunny,…she kept going, and going, and going! And speaking of going,…this was a lady who was truly "on-the-go" at every opportunity she was afforded. She was proud to tout that her love of traveling took her to countless parts of the world, and she managed to visit every continent,…at least once. Much of this travel came through her membership with the once noted, "Nomad Travel Club." She enjoyed the friends she came to know through their shared membership, and the many wonderful and breathtaking sights they added to their travel portfolio. The word "membership" carried a lot of weight with Marguerite as it was a prominent aspect of her life outside of her home. Other memberships included her association with the famous "Red Hat Society,"…the "Lutheran Vets,"…and the ABWA-Detroit/Motor City Chapter (American Business Women's Association), a group in which she was proud to be one of its founding members.Yet, for as accomplished and experienced as she was, Marguerite's favorite part of life was found in the loving and precious family members that brought her immense pleasure and joy. Not having an immediate family of her own, it was the extended loved ones that helped to fill that place in her heart,…and she was affectionately known to all as "Aunt." Not Aunt Marguerite,…just, plain, "Aunt." She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Marguerite was the loving sister of the late Edythe (the late Theodore) Thulin, and the late Harry "Bud" Lynch. Dear aunt of Karl (Linda) Thulin, Ingrid (Ed) Carrasco, Kristine (Scott Pratt) Wise, Karen (Ron) Zamiska, and great-aunt to Ryan (Carie) Thulin, Kirsten Thulin, Alanna Carrasco, Victoria Carrasco, Alexander Wise, Kenton Wise, Lauren Zamiska, and Matthew Zamiska. A Memorial Service for Marguerite will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 17th at Hope Lutheran Church, 39200 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan.Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S.
