Marie Lillian Waldeck

Marie L. Waldeck, age 82 of Warren, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights. She was born on January 28, 1928 in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and the late Mary (nee: Wolchon) Kuhr. For over 37 years, Marie was affectionately known by all in the 13 Mile & Hoover neighborhood as "Mrs. Cibo." Together with her husband, they were the owners & proprieters of the areas most popular eateries, Cibo's Pizza. Not only was the incredibly delicious pizza a major attraction to the pizzeria, but perhaps moreso was the opportunity of engaging with Marie. She was everybody's friend and treated her patrons as if they were family. You could always count on Marie to greet you with her unique and genuine smile and charm. The community was blessed to have such a nice and caring lady who exuded the utmost in customer service. And with their establishment being so closely located to area schools, she often doubled as truant officer when the youngsters dropped in for a bite at questionable times. She, and her business, will always be remembered for the memories that were made and the care that was extended through both. Following her retirement, Marie found great enjoyment in spending more time with family and friends, and often that meant a trip to the casino or playing card games...her favorite being the game of Rummy. She was also a water lover and a fan of boating, especially when it came to spending time at the family's cottage up north at Central Lake. Marie, simply, enjoyed life and found great delight in bringing goodwill and cheer to all. The legacy she leaves of feeding the masses, both family and patron alike, will be remembered for many reasons. Whether it was someones belly or their heart, Marie made sure that they would leave full and happy. The lives she touched will reflect with sincere gratitude on the impact she had in their lives. Surviving Marie is her beloved fiance, Joseph Sperzel. Dear wife of the late Howard P. Waldeck. Loving mother of Barbara Polance and Donald Waldeck. Also survived by 5 loving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass for Marie will be held on Saturday 10:00 am., March 6th, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 11200 Twelve Mile Road in Warren. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Cancer Society, 18505 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48076.
