Marion Miller, age 77 of Sterling Heights, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. She was born January 1, 1938 in Detroit, daughter of the late Louis and the late Frances Yokiel.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, life for Marion was never so sweet as when she was spending time with her loved ones,…especially her precious grandchildren. They were truly the wind beneath her wings and the light of her life. They were also some of her greatest fans when it came to the magic that Marion could produce from her kitchen. Yes, like most Grandma's, Marion knew how to whip up a meal that would make your eyes roll back in your head. From her famous Glumpke's to her sweet & decadent Baklava, there was never a question that Marion was the master of her culinary domain,…skills that, in part, were due to the many hints picked up from her favorite TV channel, the Food Network. If you left her table hungry, you just weren't tryin'! If Marion wasn't doting on family, her next set of treasured recipients was undoubtedly her furry friends,…the pets in her life that provided countless hours of companionship and love. From the cats and dogs, to the ducks and bunnies, love came to Marion in many different and cuddly ways. In telling the story of Marion, the tale would be quite remiss if not for mentioning one of her favorite getaway spots, the family cottage in Forest Lake, Michigan. Nestled amidst the backwoods in the middle of the Mitten, it provided the perfect venue for this nature lover who so enjoyed her walks in the woods. For Marion, exchanging the concrete jungle for a bit of the Mitten's country serenity and splendor was a blessing beyond expression,…especially shared in the company of loved ones and friends. As for a bit more of that "southern exposure,"…vacationing in Florida was always a special destination for Marion as well. So whether the wind was blowin' north or south, she certainly had it covered. When it came to adding a little fun and entertainment to her day, that often meant heading to the bowling alley where she enjoyed sharing one of America's favorite friendship sports with her fellow kegler's. She never attained that perfect 300 game, but it certainly wasn't for the lack of trying. And to those who truly knew how Marion ticked, they'll be able to reflect on her immense passion for the cars she owned over the years,… notably one of her favorites, a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette which still remains in her garage. There were many-a-classy models that adorned her driveway throughout the years, but that Corvette held something special for her. It was truly her pride & joy!Just like the "class" that defined her cars, Marion was a "classy lady" who always lit up a room with her smile and countenance. She was cherished within her family, a friend to many, and a helper to all. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls throughout her journey in life, and none were ever the same. With each remembrance shared, her love and care is bound to shine through in the many amazing memories she leaves behind,…created with those she loved immensely. She will truly be missed. Marion was the beloved wife of the late Ronald. Dearest mother of Kurt Miller and Sandy (Benny) Bommarito. Sister of Raymond Yokiel. Loving grandmother of Jennifer (Peter), Domenic, Madalyn, and Kaitlyn. Visitation for Marion will be held on Sunday, June 7th from 3-9 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. She will lie in state on Monday from 9 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Marion at her memory book above.
