Mary Elizabeth Barrett

Mary Elizabeth Barrett of Warren, MI passed away on October 5, 2020 at age 85. Welcomed to heaven by her husband of 53 years, Paul, and her beloved parents John and Anne O’Connor, she is survived by her children Jack (Sherri) Barrett, Nora (Mike) Sackey, and Susan (Doug) DePalma. Mary was a loving sister to the late Helen Whitaker, John (Arlene) O’Connor, Kathleen (Fred) Voebel, the late Constance (Bill) Burke, Peter (the late Marilyn) O’Connor, and the late Anna O’Connor. She was loved by her large extended family, as well as many dear friends and former colleagues.

Ning, as she was affectionately known, was an extraordinary grandmother and her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She will be dearly missed by Candis (Scott) Ogilvie, Lauren (Ryan) Paton, Nick (Cris) DePalma, Jessica (William) Rundle, Kevin DePalma, and Jennifer Barrett, along with great-grandchildren Sophie, Mack and Barrett Paton, and Tommy Ogilvie.

Mary was loyal, generous, adventurous and unconditionally loving. Those close to Mary will remember her clowning around, singin’ in the rain, and believing that “if you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough!”

Visitation for Mary will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren, Michigan. Her Funeral Service will take place on Friday, 10:30 am at the Funeral Home. She will be inurned, together with her beloved Paul, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
