Maryann Lesniak

Maryann Lesniak, age 65 died unexpectedly November 13, 2014 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Maryann was born December 30, 1948 in Detroit Michigan the daughter of the late Anthony Retka and the late Mary (nee: Lelenek) Retka. Maryann was raised in Detroit and graduated from Osborn High School in Detroit. She later attended beauty school in Hamtramck. Maryann would meet the love of her life and later marry at St. Louis the King Catholic Church.During her life Maryann owned and operated her own salon or worked as a beautician and cosmetologist for the American House Retirement Communities. Her own shop was located in Detroit named the Beauty Hut where she serviced many faithful clients.When Maryann was not working she cherished her time with her family in addition she was a gifted artist and crafter. She sewed and quilted, she painted and sold her artwork online. Maryann loved crafting and made reproduction spun-cotton ornaments and also sold the ornaments online.Much of her home life was spent in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends... She could whip-up just about any Polish dish and made wonderful sweet treats. She also enjoyed gardening outside and visiting the local estate sales. A good soul gone too soon; she had a bit of St. Francis in her, the Patron Saint of Animals. Maryann would take in strays and rescue animals, for whom she cared so much.Maryann was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Lesniak, and is the loving mother of Carolyn Lesniak, Kenneth Lesniak (Laura Kailukaitis), and Kathleen Lesniak. She was the dear sister of Christine Retka, and Anthony (Sharon) Retka. Visitation for Maryann will be Monday from 4:30-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009.
