Uncle Ted and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers in your time of sorrow.

My prayers for the family. I had the opportunity to work along side Mary Ann for a number of years while we were "head nurses" at Bi-County Hospital. She truly was part of the work family that developed over time. May your many wonderful memories be a source of strength for you at this time.

MaryAnn was a wonderful friend and neighbor who could be counted on to share a good book, a good laugh, and a shoulder to lean on. She'll be missed by everyone who knew her.

(..Continued) Or the story of my dear wife Mary Lynn, who, as a young girl, secluded herself beside the garage to extract retribution for a perceived insult, while the family frantically searched for her. For hours! she would exclaim. She had stuff on everyone. She could verbally re-enact the mini-dramas of all of her young grandchildren, often affectionately mimicking their declarations with a crossing of her arms and a haughty, childlike pout. She knew the foibles of each one of her extended family and loved them for them. She was a great conversationalist and could string together anecdotes that could last late into the evening. She represented an accumulated history of the life and times of the Dolans and Musials that were embellished with her perspective and humor. We all knew each other better because of her. She had the cutest mannerisms. She often punctuated her jokes with a throaty cracking sound, like a vaudeville comedian sounding a squeeze-bulb horn after a joke. She shopped at K-Mark and laughed when we tried to correct her pronunciation, but she never did. She implied it was hopeless to try. She was fun to be with. And her ability to broadcast family happenings to the furthest branches of the family tree and beyond would rival any social media. (Continued...)

There is no way I could say this at Mary Anns funeral. I would have lost my composure and not been able to finish. But I am compelled to share it. I will always remember my mother-in-law as my second mom. She accepted me into the family from the day I met her during an Easter dinner at the Musial home in 1981. Despite my ethnic origins, she inquired very little of me and just took me in. Our bonds were strengthened as we shared stories of working in the medical trenches taking care of acutely ill patients, she as a cardiac nurse, and I as a new intern. Though we never worked together, we shared both happy and heart-rending stories about acute hospital care. She was an outlet for me, allowing me to decompress after a hard year of internship. Mom was a treasure trove of stories about the Dolan and Musial families, and she did not hesitate to share them. She gleefully regaled us with stories dating from her childhood, such as when her mom was driven mad wondering what illicit materials her son Bob had stored in a locked drawer. Finally, she jimmied the lock, only to find it packed with socks he had squirreled away from his brothers. (continued...)

Jim and Geri Ed & I would like to extend our condolences to both of you for the loss of you mother and mother-in-law. Remember she will always be with you.

(... continued, part 3 of 3) Her grandchildren may not realize that they have had a real life guardian angel, their grandma. Behind the scenes, she thought often about their welfare, and acted on it as well. Their birthdays were sacrosanct. She was there for them for physical and emotional support when needed, and spent much time supplying it. She was adaptable and had an indomitable spirit. Her bad knee kept her from walking, but never from laughing. Mary Ann had great compassion and hope, which she expressed through her work as a nurse and her role as a trained Stephens minister. Her world extended beyond her family and herself. Though we are deeply saddened by her passing, we can know that we were loved by a very special person. Mary Ann was a strong personality. If she was in the room you knew it in a nice way. I recall the 5 Dolan and the 3(later 4) Ward kids were very close as Mary and Agnew's kids. Mary Ann was always a nurse especially later in life in taking care of Aunt Evelyn and her needs. One of Uncle Jim's favorites (as we all were). Rest in Peace Mary Ann. God loves You
