Born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Diane and the late Robert Fissette, Matthew was a kind, humble man who put everyone before himself his entire life. Matthew graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit and went on to work for Ergomotion. A Boy Scout his whole life, engineering was easy for Matt because of his mechanical skills, natural curiosity, and knack for problem solving. He rose through the ranks to become Senior Program Manager, a job that took him as far as China and eventually led him to settle in Santa Barbara, California. Matt was easy to be around because of his vibrant spirit and positive outlook on life, known to many as “DJ Techno Matt.” Even with his grueling international travel schedule, mainly to China, Matt made sure to frequently keep in touch with his family and friends. Among other trips, Matt traveled to Germany, Japan, and Australia.
Family was everything to Matt and when he met Claudia, she, her children, and her family became a natural extension of his family in Michigan. Matt was proud and grateful for the life they created together. In his free time, he would often go fishing, ice fishing and camping; he loved to stay active. Some of his most prized possessions were his ‘71 Monte Carlo, his ’90 YJ, and whichever other cars he had lined up in the driveway that he was working on at any given time.
In many ways, Matt’s family would say that he was like his late father. He was a man you could count on. His selflessness is a reminder for those who survive him to be more like Matt and make the world a better, more compassionate place every day.
Beloved husband of Claudia. Loving dad of Madeline “Maddie” and Charlotte “Bunny.” Cherished son of Diane, and the late Robert. Dear brother of Jessica (Peter). Devoted uncle of Bryan, Ethan, and Robert. Caring nephew of Les, Ken, James, John, and the late Guy. Also survived by many cousins. Cherished by his adopted brothers and lifelong friends Joshua, Vinnie, Reese, Joe, Vince, Jeff, and many more across the country and world.
Visitation for Matthew will take place Tuesday, June 21st, from 1pm until time of Funeral Service at 6pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088.
