Melinda is preceded in death by her loving parents; her siblings, Rhonda Schneider, Paul Carnes, Louise Deione; and her dear nephew, Evan Urbaniak.
Melinda is survived by her loving sister, Julie (David) White; her loving nieces and nephews, Eddie (Elizabeth) Deione, Aubrey Carr, David Schneider, Cathryn Urbaniak, and Cecily (Hunter) Dalianis-Turner; and beloved great-nieces, Skyler Dalinas- Turner and Jayda Pelkey.
Melinda was the last of 5 children born to Paul and Helen Carnes. Melinda was aways referred to by family as "the baby". Melinda was never married and did not have children, but ALWAYS SAID "she felt very fulfilled by her status as "Aunt Melinda" and never regretted having children of her own. She loved them as though they were her own, truly.
She spoiled her nieces, great niece and nephew with her generous time, attention and was very generous with her gift giving as well. So much so that in 2008 she made a lifelong dream for her Sister Julie and her family with a "Bucket List" trip to Paris France. It was a life long dream for Julie and in typical Melinda fashion, she planned the "trip of a lifetime" for our group of 9 to a tee. She made sure we went to all the Museums, The Bastille, Versailles, Euro Disney, The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre just to name a few. It is a memory that will forever remain in our hearts.
She worked in the service industry most of her life. In the late 80's she was a legal secretary at a downtown Law firm and worked with her assigned Attorney until he retired. She went into sales for several years and then moved back to Waitressing and finished her career with the staff at a local Coney Island type restaurant near her home. She considered the staff a Phoenix her "work family" and was beloved by staff.
Melinda will be sorely missed by family, including remaining Aunt Lou Bates and Roberta Carnes and a multitude of cousins primarily based in Ohio and neighboring southern states.
Melinda has not been in good health for several years with a few different heath issues. Most recently COPD, which ultimately took her from us. Our hearts are heavy but we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and with family she has longed for to be reunited with.
Our family thanks you for all who loved and supported Melinda thought out the years.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11th from 4-8pm at the D.S. Temrowski and Son’s Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI.
