Born in England to the late Beryl and Emile Sylvain, Michael worked for the U.S. Postal service until retirement. Working primarily at the Rochester Post Office his entire career, Michael was a hard worker. He slowly worked his way through the ranks and at the time of his retirement was just shy of becoming Post Master. Michael also served as head of the local American Postal Workers Union for several years. Every year as his kids Amanda and Mitch were growing up, they would go on a camping trip. Though they tried to adventure out to new camping sights every now and then, somehow they would settle on going to Metamora, Michigan because everyone always had such a good time. In his free time, Michael could be found on most any local golf course, his favorite being Bruce Hills in Bruce Twp. After a long day in the sun he would come home and have a bottle of Stroh’s or Labatt’s beer to relax. Michael’s house was the epicenter for his hot wheels collection, a small sample of the abundant collection he had amassed through the years was constantly on display. Music was also a big part of Michael’s life. Though known most for being an avid fan of the Beatles, one his family’s happiest memories was of seeing Bob Seger together. Because he had recently had surgery, though their tickets weren’t for the best seats, security was able to get them far closer to the stage in a seat where he’d be more comfortable. The family laughed about how the surgery let them beat the system for great seats. When his kids went on to have children of their own, Michael was a proud grandpa. He loved to cheer them on at their different sports games. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, Michael will be missed dearly.
Best friend and former husband of Brenda Sylvain. Beloved dad of Amanda Rozzisi and Mitch Sylvain. Cherished grandpa of Skyler Rozzisi, Angelo Rozzisi, and the late Seth Hobbs. Dear brother of Tim (Julie) Sylain, his twin brother the late Peter Sylvain, and the late Sharon Davis.
Memorial visitation Sunday, November 19th from 1pm to 5pm at VFW Post 4659, 8311 Wilson Dr., Shelby Twp, MI 48316.
