Nedra Yvonne Toten, age 79 of Sterling Hgts., Michigan, went on to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at 12:40 pm. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, Nedra loved her family more than anything. She was always the happiest in the presence of her grand and great-grandchildren. Until she was unable to do so, she played active role in their daily lives.

Nedra was a survivor. She suffered much adversity in her life, but she never allowed it to stop her from being an example of amazing strength to all around her. She was the entire family’s refuge when anyone needed a home and she willingly gave of herself to those she loved.

Nedra was also an example of great faith and was a loyal member of Great Lakes Christian Church in Warren, Michigan throughout her life. She actively supported the assembly and her church family for decades: she was a church typist, youth leader, kitchen worker, and faithful attendee.

Nedra was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Peyton, stepfather Jesse Peyton, first husband Billie Travis, second husband Jim Carden, grandson Jason Dillon, great-grandson Connor Lord and brother Jimmy Crafton. She is survived by her husband Russell Toten, her children Kim Abair (Kevin), April (Larry) Dillon, Bill (Marlene) Travis, her grandchildren Kristin (Eric), Mike (Miranda), Jeremy (Lindsey), Nikki (Brandon), Mitch, Myah, Collin, her great-grandchildren Dane, Ryley, Brady, Rosie, Bella, Mason, Irelynn, Aiden, Zachary, Eli, Felix, Ethan, Logan, and Madison, and many loving cousins, nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, and friends. Dear sister of Beverly (Gary) Hundlo, Milton (Linda) Crafton, and Donna (Mike) Landauer. Cherished sister-in-law of Jean Crafton.

Her presence will be greatly missed to all that know and love her.

There will never be a day that goes by, where I won’t miss you, love you, and wish you were here. You are my best friend. You taught me to love unconditionally and to show up everyday for the ones I love. Your strength always inspired me and I will always be in awe of you. Thank you for ALWAYS having my back Nana and for loving me so much. I am so blessed to belong to you. I will cherish the innumerable memories I have of and with you. You made my life sweeter having you in it. I love you SO much more than I could ever put into words.

Beverly's words : I was always amazed at how my Sister who suffered so much pain in her life , seemed to be able to spring back from it and go on and help so many others . I loved her dearly. Gary's words : Nedra meant alot to me , she was always loving and giving of herself . HER WORDS to everyone " Come on in and have a seat do you want something to drink or eat ? " I traveled with her many times she didn't care about her own comfort , " where ever you want me is alright by me " Seriously loved , Seriously missed .

Even though Aunt Nedra may have not been my biological Aunt you would of never known that by the way she treated me or when I was around. Her niece Erica and daughter Kim have been friends of mine now for over 20 years. From the very first day I meet Aunt Nedra she made me feel welcome, loved, and just another one of the family. I remember meeting her and immediately thinking wow she does remind me of my own aunts lol...which was so true and became more true as the years went on. I remember every time seeing her and how she never failed to embrace me with a warm sweet hug and a sincere smile upon her face. She would always ask how my husband and children were. She has and always will hold a very dear and special place in my heart. She will be greatly missed. I send my love and prayers to all the family and thank you for sharing such a special lady with me. Love always!! Rhonda

My Aunt Nedra was one of the strongest people I’ve ever known; even while suffering she always praised the Lord and told everyone how blessed she was. I was blessed to be one of the wayward ones she took in for awhile. She was such an amazing example in my life and I will miss her dearly.
