Norma Caroline Jaeger, age 96 of Warren, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Villa at City Center in Warren, Michigan. She wasa born January 26, 1923 in Detroit, daughter of the late Edward and the late Martha (nee: Stuhlman) Koss.
A loving wife, mother and homemaker, Norma poured the best parts of herself into caring for her family and maintaining the warmth of home & hearth for her husband and two boys. Along with the plethora of responsibilities she mastered in her daily routine, Norma will be fondly remembered for her incredible baking skills and the many “goodies” that often graced her table and dessert dishes. Quite able to give Awry’s a run for their money, Norma certainly knew her way around the kitchen. All she needed was a stove, an oven, and some preparation space,…then you needed to simply sit back and watch the magic unfold, which usually ended in something tasty being produced that was the perfect accompaniment to a tall glass of milk.
When she found time outside of the house, you would have often found Norma toiling away in the backyard. She loved to garden and had one of her own to while away the hours as she poured the finer parts of her tender-loving-care into its growth and fruition. With a green thumb and the heart of a horticulturalist, Norma could often get lost in her “patch of provisions,” be they beautiful, edible, or both.
For as hard as she worked, Norma also knew how to manage her time and always tried to balance things out for a bit of fun,…which often meant heading to the local bowling lanes for some Americana competition. Nothing says fun quite like a group of friends gathered around the ball return, sharing that familiar banter and camaraderie that accompanies a little alley action. Norma knew it all-too-well, and ate up every moment of the memories made while giving those bowling pins a run for their money. Always in search of that elusive “300 Game,” it certainly wasn’t for the lack of trying. For a little action in the outdoors, Norma was quite the fan of the game of golf and loved enjoying a sunny day on the course with family and friends alike. She was also quite good at it as evidenced by her amazing feat on the 7th hole at Metro Beach when she sank that coveted Hole-in-One. Forever chasing the elusive dream,...one can only imagine the elation she felt when that dream came true.
Then there were those “Shopping Sprees with the Sisters” that became quite the coveted event for Norma. Not only was there the adrenaline rush from the purchases accrued, but the added bonus was in being able to enjoy a day together with her cherished sisters whom she adored. Yet the “familial love” transcended that of simply her sisters as Norma absolutely treasured the annual Jaeger Family Picnic when ALL of her loved ones were gathered around. Each of them were a reunion for the ages and never ceased to infuse Norma with eager anticipation as she awaited their arrival. Family meant the world to Norma, and she soaked up all the stories, hugs and memories she could with each year’s offering.
Many will remember Norma’s deep and abiding faith in God as well. A devout and longstanding member of the Lutheran body of believer’s, she had a servant’s heart and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others, which was often seen in her volunteering efforts with both Our Savior Lutheran Church in Detroit, and Peace Lutheran Church in Warren. In His own way, God used Norma to minister to the hearts of others and speak words of love as she gave so willingly and unselfishly. She touched countless hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven,…may she, now, know the splendors of the other side as she awaits that ultimate reunion with her loved ones…one-by-one. Rest in peace, Norma.
Norma was the beloved wife of the late Vincent. Loving mother of Gary P. (Donna) Jaeger, and the late Vincent V. Jaeger. Dear sister of Shirley Elle, Ruth Miller, and the late Ed, Elmer, Warner, Mildred, Edna, and Lilly. Norma was also the adoring "Furr-Mama" to her precious, Pattsie, a Chiquaqua with loads of personality and an unconditional love that warmed her heart immensely.
A Committal Service for Mrs. Jaeger will take place at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 18th at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren.
