

Paul Edward Gietzen, age 77, died Tuesday, June 2, 2014 at his home in Warren, Michigan. Paul was born November 17, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Anthony Gietzen and the late Rosalia (nee: Priemer) Gietzen. As a young boy, Paul lived with Dora Bierman-Gietzen and Phyllis & Al Young following the death of his mother. Paul attended Holy Name Catholic School and later St. Cyril Catholic High School. Following his schooling, he worked for R.C. Mahon Company... it was during this time he met and married his wife Carolyn.Paul and his wife lived in East Detroit for eight years and began their young family. His son Paul Jr. was born in 1959, followed by his daughter Julie in 1961, and finally Nancy was born in 1964.The young Gietzen family moved to Warren, Michigan where Paul would reside for the following 48 years. Paul was self-employed for over ten years before going to work for Stock Building Supply where he worked as a Job Estimator before retiring. When Paul was not working, he stayed active with the Warren Kiwanis Club and enjoyed travelling to the west side of the state, The Barn Theater, and to Port Huron with his favorite cousin, Roger Ureel.Paul Gietzen was the beloved father of Dr. Paul Jr. (Wendy) Gietzen, Julie Goodin, Nancy (Jonathan) Locke, and the dear grandfather of Paul Gietzen III, John Gietzen, Drew Gietzen, Angela Goodin, Michelle (Peter) Ganter, Joshua (Brooke) Goodin, Jessica Goodin, Julia Locke, and Justin Locke. He was the great-grandfather of Isabell Ganter, and brother of Theresa Piasecki, Anthony (Joan) Gietzen, and Francis (Ruth) Gietzen. Mr. Gietzen was the cousin and best friend of Roger Ureel, and brother in-law of Ellie Gietzen, and Charles Wiegand. Mr. Gietzen was predeceased by his siblings, Lucille (Ed) Seefried, Norma Wiegand, and Clement Gietzen. A Memorial Mass for Paul will be held June 16th, 2014 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 South Lafayette, in South Lyon, Michigan. A Memorial gathering and luncheon will be held the following day, 12 Noon June 17th at the Century Banquet Center (American-Polish Century Club), 33204 Maple Lane Dr, Sterling Heights, MI 48312.Please share memories of Paul at his memory book.
