Paul Thomas Kroll, age 72 of Hawks, Michigan, and formerly of Warren, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.He was born on January 5, 1940 in Detroit, son of the late Paul and the late Marie (nee: Kilburg) Kroll. With thanks & praise from the grateful community of Warren, we honor Paul for his dedicated service and esteemed history as one of Warren's finest. Serving as a Warren Police Officer for over 20 years, Paul extended his utmost in protecting and preserving the city and its resident's until his retirement in 1990.Like many guys, a day off from work would often find Paul enjoying one of his favorite pastimes. From casting his line at a familiar fishing hole, to scoping out the game during his many hunting ventures, or sharing a sunny day on the golf course with a friend,...Paul was a sporting kind of guy who found his greatest entertainment and escape in the outdoors.Another of his favorite things to do was travel. Of all his prime destinations, very few could match the pleasure he experienced when visiting his treasured grandchildren. A loving and doting grandfather, he cherished each and every moment in their company,...especially when it entailed sharing a college football game together. Following retirement and into his golden years, an aspect of Paul's travels took on a special meaning each year as he and Janice would hit the road for their "snowbird retreat" in Mission, Texas. Always eager to escape the wintry environment of the Mitten, their warmer abode in the Lone Star State became quite a slice of Heaven. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Paul touched a lot of hearts along life's way and leaves behind a legacy of love that will be a lasting memory of how much he cared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. He was the beloved husband of Janice. Loving father of Michael (Crystal), Karen (Michael) White, Marty (Karen), Nicholas, and Paul Jr. (Marilyn). Devoted grandfather of Mitchell, Myles, Jordan, Austin, Allison, Derek, Adam, Alex, Julian, Christopher, Lola, and great-grandfather of Mychael.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S.
