

Paul grew up in Bay City, alongside his three siblings. He went on to serve his country with dedication, working for the United States government Department of Defense at the Tank-Automotive Command. Among his proudest moments was working to strengthen America’s allies including Taiwan and Turkey — a testament to his commitment and sense of duty.
Paul was married to the love of his life, Judy, for 64 cherished years. Shortly after their wedding, the couple began their lifelong journey together by living in England for seven memorable months while Paul was in the US Army. Their enduring love and partnership were a constant source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them.
Known for his gentle nature and generous spirit, Paul was a man who would do anything for anyone. He was a devoted father and a steady presence in the lives of those he loved. His kindness, humility, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Paul’s legacy is one of service, love, and deep compassion. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
Paul was the beloved husband of Judy Thorne. Loving father of Mark Thorne and the late John Thorne. Cherished grandfather of Danny (Melanie) Thorne. Dear brother of Gary (Judy) Thorne, Sandra Kay (Frank) Borgon, and John (Sandy) Thorne. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Memorial for Paul will be held on Friday, August 1st with an In State at 9:00am until the time of his Memorial Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI. Military Honors and Inurnment to follow at 12:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI.
