Paul Arnold Webster, Jr., age 50 of Warren, died Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 12, 1969 in Kailua, Hawaii, son of Carol Jean (nee: Bakos) Ostrowski, and the late David Ostrowski.
With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we honor Paul for his service to our country as an airman in the U.S. Air Force. Serving from December 1987 thru December 1991, his duty assignment was that of Radiologic Specialist, a medical expertise position of which he held for 3 years and 10 months. Shortly thereafter, Paul received his honorable discharge following a distinguished military experience. For serving with pride and patriotism for America, we extend our posthumous gratitude for a job well done.
With his recent employment being with the W.L. Gore Company , Paul will be better recognized and remembered for the unselfish and compassionate care he rendered as a Clinical Support Technologist at Children’s Hospital in Detroit. Dedicating 27 years of service excellence in helping maintain a smooth operation, Paul enjoyed working side-by-side with his fellow caregivers as they made an impact on countless lives.
When he wasn’t working, Paul had 2 major pastime loves he enjoyed,…the first of which involved his 2004 Chevrolet Corvette. A “Dream Car” that managed to make its way into his garage a while back, Paul loved getting that bad boy out from time to time and taking it for a spin,…especially when he was headed for one of his favorite Michigan destinations, the quaint hamlet of Leelanau. He loved that little town, and he surely enjoyed all of the turning heads when he showed up in that shiny Corvette.
His other love was definitely found in the game of football. And no offense (no pun intended)…but we’re not talking about the lads in the Honolulu Blue & Silver. No…it was all about the He-Men in the iconic Black & Gold form the Pittsburg Steelers. To say that Paul was a huge fan would be a tremendous understatement. The Steelers had No Bigger Fan than he. Introduced to the team at the young age of 12, they made an indelible impression on his sports psyche,…and with each passing year, that devotion grew even deeper. Paul’s fandom became so ingrained that he found himself making road trips to Pittsburg to see them on their home turf. Also, he took part in their Fantasy Camp,…not just once, but for 7 years in a row. The ultimate pleasure for a Steelers fan, being able to meet and work out with players from the team was a pinnacle experience on each of those seven occasions.
Like many of us, Paul was the owner of a bicycle, But unlike most of us, he actually rode his. Giving it his best in keeping healthy and in shape, riding his bike provided Paul a wonderful mix of enjoying both the scenic pleasures, as well as the benefits associated with exercising.
As for one of his most endearing traits, Paul simply loved people. It was more than merely being a “people-person,”…he had a unique and genuine gift of connecting with others and engaging them with his own brand of friendliness. You couldn’t be in Paul’s presence for more than a few minutes without feeling like you had known him all your life. He possessed a warmth and charisma that enveloped you the moment you met, and caressed you like a warm hug. His compassion and empathy will forever be just one of the hallmarks that will set him apart from all the rest.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, it all began with a love story between he and his bride, the beautiful Miss Marcy Lynn Chapman. One fate-filled meeting morphed into many more, which turned to romance, and culminated in the two sharing their vows of marriage and stepping off into their new world together. He was devoted to his family and friends, and held them close as the world took him on quite the challenging ride. Throughout his life, Paul taught many lessons on love & laughter, pain & perseverance, and the importance of always keeping it positive. He touched countless hearts and souls in his journey through life, and will continue to touch the same with each reflection shared of the memorable moments created this side of Heaven. He will be missed beyond expression, and loved beyond measure. May he, now, rest in peace.
Paul was the beloved husband of Marcy, the dear father of Kayla (Val) Webster and Brittany (Matt) Musial, and the loving grandfather of Colton and Aubrey.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
