I’m so sorry to hear of Paul’s untimely passing.  My heart goes out to the entire family.  He was a fantastic person and will be sorely missed.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing.  He was way to young to leave us. 
I worked with Paul for many years at DTL and he was one of the easiest going people I knew. He loved his daughters and spoke of them frequently.

I have many good memories with Paul.  We had great times riding bikes, hiking, camping, playing with the girls, hanging out with his family.  He was a very kind, funny, and generous man and an amazing father.  He will be missed by so many.

Paul had a kind gentle soul despite being as strong as a rock.  I met Paul in high school and thinking of his infectious laughter still makes me smile.  I have only fond memories of hanging out with Paul and our group of friends.  He had a way of making those around him feel good.  Paul will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  Thoughts & prayers to his family, especially his girls.  Your Dad was a genuinely fantastic human being!

I am deeply saddened at the loss of a colleague, a friend. Paul and I became good buddy’s, working together for a decade at Element, due to a common sense of humor and love of cars. My heart is bleeding for his daughters whom he loved more than anything. This world needs more people like Paul, not less. Rest in peace brother. I’ll see you on the other side.

    I met Paul roughly 2 years back at Element. He was a very nice guy, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable about his field. He helped train me in calibration and aided me several times during my career here at Element. Paul and I used to talk in the breakroom or whenever I would see him around, and the conversations ranged between his love for cars, hobbies he enjoyed, stories of his kids, and about his health concerns. 

    He had a heart attack last year and was gone for quite a while, where I had to fill in for some of his duties. When he came back, he said he fealt good, and that he was taking extra steps to maintaining a healthly diet that was less taxing on his heart. The heartbreaking thing was hearing him explain his love for life and his children, and that he was not ready to go. You deserved to retire Paul, that was all I could think about when I walked to your desk this morning. I saw the last papers you were working on, and I cried for you. 

Paul my friend, you truly were too good for this world. Thank you for all of your help, and always bringing a smile to my face. You will be missed.

I also worked with Paul for nearly 15 years at DTL/Element.  Always a Gentlemen!  He loved his girls and when we ran into each other at work we shared jokes, laughs and stories about our children.

I worked with Paul for 16 year and he was a great guy to know, he was super funny and would have you laughing with just a look cause you knew he was cooking up something funny. His daughters Kayla and Nicole were his world he spoke highly of them both. Paul had a passion for older mint cars and enjoyed taking great car of them, I always said if you ever wanted a car that was well cared for buy one from Paul and you wouldn't have to do anything to it. He will be loved and missed by all that knew him . Rest in peace Paul It was an honor to know you.

I knew Paul for 5 years working with him everyday at Element. We talked about cars  mostly and our kids. He would give me things for my kids from time to time that he no longer needed. It’s not going to be the same without him at work and I’m really going to miss him. Rest in piece my friend. 


To Paul's family, 
I knew Paul since 1st grade through our last year of high school.  We went on camping trips and met up at other events post high school. He was always the fella that could make you laugh and he found humor everywhere. 
I will miss our car rides and exploring the world in our younger days.

I worked with Paul many years at Detroit Testing Laboratory,  later Element Material Technology. Always a positive, outgoing guy that could take and give a joke with ease. Never heard a negative comment from our customers. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I know a kind soul such as his is in heaven. Rest in Peace my friend. 


Sorry to hear about the passing of Paul.   Although I did not know him in looking at the obituary I noticed his late sister, Sandy Hawes, whom I worked with for years at the Tank Command and was shocked when heard of her passing and still don’t know what happened as she was so young and vibrant.
