

Peter Thomas Marvin, age 71 of Warren, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 5, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MichiganPeter was born September 21, 1946 in Royal Oak, Michigan the son of the late Paul Whiting Marvin and the late Lillian Gertrude (nee: Blinke) Marvin. He was raised in Hazel Park and graduated from St. James Catholic High School in Ferndale, Michigan the graduating class of 1965.Following his schooling Pete served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, for over six years achieving the rank of Sergeant and a Honorable Discharge. He eventually returned home and found employment within the Hazel Park Schools maintenance department. Pete worked for over 31 years as a school maintenance employee until his retirement in 2001. During his years working as a school maintenance employee, he also enjoyed coaching girls and boys basketball at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School. Pete would also later coach girls high school basketball at St. Clement Catholic School for over five years.Never one to slow down Pete was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen for many years, and additionally he was active within the Hazel Park community that he loved so much, serving on the Hazel Park City Council, and also a member of the VFW Fraser - CPL. During his entire life he stayed connected to Hazel Park, the community and also the Hazel Park Race Track where he worked for over 40 years, lastly serving as the Director of Security. Following Pete's retirement from Hazel Park Schools, he invested much of his time outside of the Race Track with his beloved wife, sons, and grandchildren. Pete enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Au Gres, Michigan where he could be found playing golf, and attending Michigan State football and basketball games. He was truly a die-hard and avid sports fan who fulfilled a lifelong dream attending the 2014 Rose Bowl and watching his Spartans beat Stanford University. Peter Marvin was the beloved husband of Marlene, and was the dear father of Brian (Yi Jin) Marvin, and Kevin Marvin. He was also the loving grandfather of Alex, Avery, and Benny. Mr. Marvin was predeceased by mother and father, along with his five siblings. Visitation for Mr. Marvin will be held on Monday from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile) in Warren. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 10:30am at the Funeral Home. Officiating the Funeral Service will be Reverend Fr. Jack Baker. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.Please share memories of Pete at his memory book above.
