Phyllis J. Esmont, age 71 of Warren, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren. She was born on November 16, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry and the late Evelyn (nee: Curtner) Sivert.A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Phyllis embodied the finest qualities of a big-hearted, strong-willed and care-giving lady. Whether in good times or in bad, you could always count on Phyllis to be there with an understanding ear, a supportive hug, and an abiding grace that helped to soothe the soul. It mattered not what fabric a person was woven from,…Phyllis respected everyone with a unique and non-judgmental countenance. She was truly a "giver" who extended the best part of herself as best she could, and did so unselfishly without expecting anything in return. When it came to the things that brought her joy and delight, nothing much could beat the gathering of family and friends. Always the life of the party, Phyllis lived for each and every moment that she was able to share with the nearest & dearest to her heart. And often, these times were made even more special when her hand was embracing her favorite beverage,…a cool & refreshing Miller Lite! Another thing that sparked her passion were all those sporty & awe-inspiring Pontiac Firebirds that adorned her driveway. She owned a vast array of the infamous models over the years and had a blast motoring all over town in one of GM's finest creations to come out of Detroit. With a bit of playfulness in her spirit, an annual tradition that became quite special to Phyllis were the trips to Vegas she shared with her mother, sister, brother-in-law, and three nieces. Together, the gang of seven left behind the Mitten state for the notorious city in the desert,…and created many wonderful memories soaking up the lights, entertainment, and trying their luck with the one-armed bandits. Phyllis was also known for being quite the cook. She truly knew her way around the kitchen, and nobody left hungry from her table. Every cook has their specialty, and one of Phyllis' was definitely found in her delicious pot of stew. Another of her tasty treats was easily the mean bowl of chili she concocted, and this from a lady who never even ate chili. But of all the things that brought her the most joy, they had nothing to do with "things." Rather, it was the delight of loved ones that meant the most to Phyllis,…especially her cherubs, the grandchildren. Without question, they were the light of her life and provided countless hours of the stuff that the greatest memories are made of in life. And the story of Phyllis just wouldn't be complete without mention being made of the love she held for her precious canine companion, Peppy. Whether for the two or the four-legged version, Phyllis' life was surrounded by a great deal of unconditional love. Frankly, it was simply a return of the love that she so graciously poured out on others. She leaves behind a legacy of love that it strong and true, and will always be a guide in life to those who were blessed to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Beloved mother of Steve Esmont, Sherri (Kurt) Mardyla, Richard (Cindy) Esmont, Denise (Erik) Rymas, and Vickie Esmont. Loving grandmother of Deanna (John), Stevie, Tammy (Eric), Kurtis (Alicia), Kyle, Amanda, Matt, Nick, Brandon (Jessica), Ryan, Brett, and great-grandmother of Brandon, Haley, Tyler, Baby Eric, Devon, Nevaeh, and Christopher.
