Raymond G. Lehre, age 53 of Warren, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born on October 18, 1957 in Detroit, the son of Donald and Barbara (nee: King) Lehre.Ray loved his family immensely and was never fond of being alone. Therefore, every moment in their company brought him his greatest pleasures. Renowned for possessing the gift of gab, his family recalls how he always had something to say on every topic and was never shy in sharing his thoughts and opinions. He could often be stern, but was nothing more than a Big Ol' Teddy Bear,...and truly had a heart of gold.Along with his love of family, and people in general, Ray was also quite the lover of animals as well. Over the years, his home was filled with a number of different pets that he adored. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and they also shared the same name,..."Spike." It must have been "comically confusing" each time he would call out the name Spike to see just how many of them would reply. But that's just one aspect of the humorous guy his family will remember. Another funny memory they will forever reflect upon is how he loved to talk to their answering machines when he knew they were at work or away from home. Knowing the pets were in the house alone, he loved placing calls and entertaining the animals through the answering machine. Now THAT is truly an animal lover!A life gone far too soon through his battle with cancer, Ray's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who will remember the tender man within. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. He was the beloved son of Donald (Barbara) Lehre and Barbara (Dennis) Vallus. Loving father of Bumper, Barbie (Johnny) Barber, Raybie (Michele), Jason, and the late Raymond Jr. Grandfather of Breann, A.J., Jeremy, Mallory, Ashley, and Aiden. Brother of Doug (Stacey), Dave, Darryl (Karen), Sandy (Craig) Barocio, and Mike (Gabi). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Visitation for Raymond will be on Monday, October 17th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm funeral service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.Memorial donations, in Raymond's name, are welcomed to the American Cancer Society, 20450 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, Michigan 48076 - attention: Memorial Department. Please share memories of Raymond at his guest book.
