Raymond C. Guy Jr., (known more affectionately to all as "RC"), age 73 of Roseville, died on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren, Michigan. He was born February 9, 1948, in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Raymond C. Guy and the late Stella Louise (nee: Burleson) Guy.
As a young boy, RC would join his family as they shared life experiences in the states of Ohio and North Carolina before ultimately settling in the Detroit area. RC was proud to be a graduate of Detroit’s, Northwestern High School, and it was during that time that RC was blessed to meet a beautiful young girl by the name of Yolanda, a meeting that would blossom into romance, and eventually lead them both to the altar. RC was just 15 years old when he and Yolanda met, and the next three years found these lovebirds falling deeper and deeper in love. RC was 18 years old when he took his bride’s hands and promised himself in marriage to the gorgeous young girl who swept him off his feet. They were married on St. Patty’s Day, March 17, 1966.
Following high school, RC went on to further his learning by becoming a skilled tradesman in the electrical field, and ultimately a Master Electrician where his talents were utilized for many years at the Ford Motor Company. From there his skills became highly sought after by the folks at the Olsonite Corporation where RC would enjoy the remainder of his working years until stepping into the world of retirement on his way to those glorious Golden Years. But though he wasn’t punching a clock or laboring away, RC certainly didn’t remain idle as he donned a new pair of shoes as a “Stay-at-Home Father” and babysitter for his adoring grandchildren. He filled that role wonderfully with his huge and humble heart of love and care.
When he wasn’t working, you would have often found him tinkering in his garden out back. With his knowledgeable green thumb and heart of a horticulturalist, RC’s garden was a thing of splendor and the product of a man who poured an immense portion of his tender-loving-care into nurturing its growth and beauty for all to share. If it was a beautifully sunny day outdoors, then RC often spent time enjoying his other passion,…golfing. Nothing spells fun quite like a day on the links, chasing that elusive Hole-in-One,…unless, of course, you’re sharing the fun with a partner or two, something RC enjoyed immensely.
Yes, he was passionate about gardening and golf,…yet this little bio of RC just wouldn’t be replete without mentioning another of his colossal passions,…the fervor and respect he held for Our President, Donald J. Trump. RC was a patriot to the core and an American with a huge amount of love for our country,…and just one of the millions who witnessed a man step up to the plate like none other. One of President Trump’s most ardent and avid supporters, RC will just have to lend his support from Heaven.
Many will also remember how RC lived a balanced life, one that was guided by his deep and abiding faith in God. He loved his Lord and was a devoted Christian who understood that life could have its moments, but keeping close to God was always the answer. We all work out our faith in different ways, but perhaps RC’s way of walking his path could define that warm and welcoming smile that always lit up a room,…or the foundational principles of honesty and trustworthiness that permeated his soul. Whatever the case, RC was a man who was faithful to all,…in all,…and above all, and it was the glue that held all of his loving relationships together,…especially that of his dear family’s. It is they who warmed his heart and were the wind beneath his wings. It is they with whom he desired to be with the most, and in whom he shared the best moments of his life. RC would do anything for his wife and kids,…and often did.
A loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, RC lived large, laughed often, and loved much. He brought a great deal to the table of life, but none so much as the care and compassion he extended to his dear family,…of which there are many to embrace his legacy. He will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
RC was the beloved husband of Yolanda. Loving father of Connie (Todd) Guy, Raymond (Tammy) Guy III, Michael (Pamela) Guy, Jay (Dolores) Guy, and Matthew (Stephanie) Guy. Devoted grandfather of Michael Malkiewicz, Nicole (Billy) Myers, Victoria (Michael) Cipriani, Michael (Kayla) Guy Jr., Jeffrey Guy Jr., Raymond Guy IV, Kimberly Guy, Isabella Guy, and Nicole Pubrat. Great grandfather of Vallerie Cipriani, Veronica Cipriani, Liam Myers, Michael Cipriani Jr., Mason Guy, McKenzie Myers, and Hadley Guy.
Visitation for RC will be held on Wednesday, June 16th from 5-9 pm, and Thursday from 2-9 pm, with a 7 pm Funeral Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren, Michigan. Burial will take place on Friday, 10:30 am at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
