

Raymond J. Von Itter, age 83 a longtime resident of Warren and recently of Richmond Michigan, died Wednesday September 5, 2012 at the Blue Water Hospice Home in Marysville Michigan. Raymond was born in Halfway Michigan now known as Eastpointe, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Von Itter. He graduated from East Detroit High School the class of 1946. Following high school Raymond enrolled in a Naval Training program, however before completing his schooling he was called to active service during the Korean War. Mr. Von Itter served for two years in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant.Following his military service Raymond returned to work at AWT and later Richard Brothers Tool and Die. Being a gifted die maker Mr. Von Itter attained a skilled trade position as a die maker with General Motors where he continued to work until his retirement in 1989.Over the years Raymond never sat still for long' he built three of his homes, tinkered constantly on projects, and tended to his rose and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed reading the classic old Western novels and occasionally visiting local casinos. In retirement Raymond and his wife moved to Weidman Michigan where they lived for over thirteen years before moving to Richmond to be closer to family.Raymond will be remembered by his wife and family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who cherished his family and country. He is survived by his beloved wife Janice and is the dearest father of Raymond Von Itter, Cheryl (Doug) Ford, Maureen (Bruce) Smith, Dennis Von Itter, Dale Von Itter, and the late Robert Von Itter. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew, Janice (Justin), Claire (Ed) Siztes, Megan, Dustin, Tyler, and dear brother of Gertrude Reeves. Visitation for Mr. Von Itter will be held Saturday from 3-9pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ' Mile). Interment will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan.
