Richard Allen Allport. Age 63 of Warren, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born September 26, 1952 in Detroit, son of William A. and Mildred M. (nee: Eddy) Allport. Along with his English and Canadian ethnicity, Richard was also quite proud of his Indian heritage. Stemming in part from the Sault Ste. Marie area of Michigan, Richard's ancestry can be traced back to that of the Chippewa Indian Tribe.Retired 9 years from the Chrysler Corporation, Richard extended over 31 years of dedicated and loyal service to the automotive giant before accepting his well-deserved leave. Having experienced many facets throughout his employment, his last position with the company was as a Quality Control Inspector,…helping to make sure the cars leaving production were safe and road-ready.When not at work, and amidst his retirement, Richard enjoyed a number of different pastimes. His younger years held many wonderful memories of the various sporting pleasures that filled his time. From joining in the fun of bowling, to a sunny day with a friend on the golf course, Richard was always up for a little competition mixed in with the entertaining element. In his youthful days, nobody could swing a softball bat like Richard. Like most young lads, he loved the game of softball and the joys that accompanied the team effort. As the years brought change, swinging a bat would be replaced with the challenge of the hunt,…the Michigan thing to do for many of the states gentlemen, of course. Horseshoes was another of his favorite pastimes as well. It was hard to beat the great times and memories of tossing the horseshoes at the family cottage up at Houghton Lake. Yet of all his sporting pleasures that meant the most, the game of darts was a special one,...not only for the competitive element, but also in the fact that it's the game that brought Richard & Marcia together. They met with darts in their hands, and cupid's arrow in their hearts. As the years pressed on, great entertainment often meant finding his prime spot on the couch while enjoying a favorite television show. Yet his most precious and cherished moments were those spent in the company of his grandchildren. They infused a special joy and verve for life in Richard that made each visit something to treasure,…and something to look forward to as time passed. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard leaves a storehouse of wonderful memories for those to embrace who were fortunate to know this special man. He touched many lives along the way and will be missed immensely.Richard was the beloved husband of Marcia. Dear father of Todd (Michelle) Allport, Melissa Allport, and Scott (Katie) Allport. Stepfather of Michael Pabian and Tony (Bethany) Polanski III. He is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, one sister, and four brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ mile) in Warren. Please share memories of Richard at his memory book above.
