

Richard John DeGain, age 67, a resident of Warren, Michigan, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield, Michigan following a long hard-fought battle against Parkinson's Disease. Richard was born October 23, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Donald P. DeGain and the late Frances (nee: Wesoloski) DeGain.Richard was raised in Royal Oak where he attended Kimball High School. Following his schooling, he went to work for Michigan Timber & Truss where he worked for almost 40 years. As a young man, he met and married Barbara Tessmer,...and even though the marriage did not continue, the couple produced two wonderful children and remained friends.When Richard was not working, he always remained active with his creative and artistic personality. He created and made his furniture and artwork in his home and always was well dressed for all occasions. He loved all music and held a passion for 80's funk such as Earth, Wind, and Fire. Richard was also an avid billiards player where he could hold the table for the entire evening, all the while, never betting on one game... to him, it was all about the game. A billiards table in his memory will be dedicated at the Lime Light Bar where Richard spent many hours sharing laughs with his many friends.Richard DeGain was the dear father of Rick DeGain, Andrea DeGain, and is the loving grandfather of Juliet DeGain, Carter Versace, Jacob Carver, and Rosalyn Reese. He was also the beloved brother of Virginia (the late Paul) Reno, the late Donald DeGain, and the late Ronald DeGain. He is also survived by many loving family members and friends.Visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, May 7th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile) in Warren. Mr. DeGain will lie in state Friday, 10:00 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church (formerly St. Edmund) in Warren until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30am.
