Richard Anthony Frankowiak, born in Detroit on July 15, 1948, passed away October 30, 2022 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren at age 74. Richard lived most all of his life at 8229 Westminster in Warren. After the passing of his beloved father Anthony Frankowiak Sr. December 28, 1975 he lovingly cared for his mother Josephine Frankowiak (nee Stanczak) until her death on February 13, 1988.
For 39 and a half years he worked as a Mail Handler for the United States Post Office on Mound in Warren, rarely did he use his sick time. He is a two time colon cancer survivor (he then used time off to recuperate). Richard was a man of simple yet strong faith, and served as an Usher at Ascension Church and more recently St. Mary's Our Lady Queen of Families in Center line. He enjoyed watching all Michigan College and professional sports teams on TV and was an avid Tiger fan! He was also a believer in WWF, (now WWE) as it gave him endless entertainment. Lover of anything "lighthouse themed", and fan of Elvis, he visited Graceland in 2006.
Richard was the beloved brother of Mary Ann Skonieczny (Ray). Loving Uncle of: Linda Parton (Joe), Mark Skonieczny (Cristie), Michael Skonieczny (Kris), Don Frankowiak (the late Vickie), Diane Lowe (Chris), Sandy Acord (Angelo), Debbie Wojcik (Bob), David Frankowiak, Mary Ledvina (Josh), Joseph Ledvina. Predeceased in death by: His brother Tony Frankowiak Jr., Tony's wife Dolores, his nephew Anthony David Frankowiak, and sister Rita Ledvina, and her husband Elmer.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 9:30am until the time of a Memorial Mass at 10:00am at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families: St. Clement Catholic Church, 25320 Van Dyke Avenue, Center Line. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Solanus Soup Kitchen, 1780 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit 48207.
