Richard Michael Posk, age 82 a longtime resident of Sterling Heights, died Saturday, October 08, 2011 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy Michigan. Richard was born August 23, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Michael Posk and the late Barbara (nee: Salczynski) Posk. Mr. Posk was raised in Hamtramck and graduated from Hamtramck High School. He would later serve his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, having attained the rank of Corporal. Following his service to his country Richard returned to Detroit and worked for Chrysler Motors as an administrator in the design office. When Mr. Posk was not working his passion was playing golf however his true love was being surrounded by his family and grandchildren. The following content has been provided by Richard's loving wife Shirley''I would like to share more about my husband Richard' as to the type of person he was. Really, very much a people person, always ready with a smile. He was extremely devoted to his family, work, church, and country. He served in the Korean War and came home only because his mother was dying. After his mother's death he took care of his father. He finally met me and we married in 1963, and have been married for over 48 years. Cars were always in his blood. For many years he worked for G.P. Johnson & Company, always dealing with show cars. Much to our surprise he came home in the Presidential Limousine which he was to deliver to Greenfield Village. Everyone in the neighborhood had an opportunity to touch it. From there he went to Chrysler Corporation in the design office. There were so many innovations and special assignments. He had the opportunity to do more things for Lee Iacocca. He drove the Iacocca family during their funerals and weddings mainly because of his security clearance. The most colorful and fascinating person was Carrol Shelby, all had fun being around him. We looked forward to the stories he came home with. Richard had a special knack to cut through red tape and get things done. Often the boss would say go for it and don't ask how he did it. He was responsible for hundreds of cars and he really could wheel and deal. We have lived in three different homes, the last being our dream home. For many years he faced serious health issues but, he managed to survive. I am extremely grateful for his many doctors. He always called me one of them. His children and grandchildren were the stars of his life. Memories are many and we will always cherish and hold them dear! So my love go in peace with the Lord!! ShirleyRichard Posk was the beloved husband of Shirley, and dear father of Susan (David) Nofz, and Michael (Lori) Posk. He is the loving grandfather of Brandon, Madison, Keaton, and Daniel. Visitation for Mr. Posk will be held Monday 4-9 pm and Tuesday 2-9pm, with an Evening Vigil at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ' mile).
