

Richard Stephen Wahl age 62 died Thursday April 18, 2013 after battling cancer. Richard was born November 10, 1950 in Brooklyn New York, the son of the late Charles and the late Elizabeth Wahl.Richard was raised in Brooklyn where he graduated high school and later attended Brooklyn College. He later married Monica Doane and the couple settled in Grand Rapids Michigan where the couple resided for more than 25 years. During his time in Grand Rapids Richard endeared many friends with his humor and intellect.Later a job transfer for his wife moved the family closer to Detroit in which they would currently reside in Canton Michigan. Richard worked as a semi-truck driver for Meijer Grocery chain for the last 18 years. Richard had a spotless attendance record and also a perfect driving safety record.When Richard was not working he was always doing something with his hands… he was an accomplished "handy man". From remodeling a bathroom to laying ceramic tile, no task was too dauntless for Richard. He handled all the maintenance on his home and vehicles. If he was not fixing something he relaxed fishing or traveling to his beloved Cape Cod. Richard was also an avid sports fan cheering the local Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He also took a great interest in learning history and staying up on current events. His family will remember a kind loving man with an incredible memory.Richard is survived by his wife Monica (nee: Doane). He was the beloved son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Wahl, and is the dearest brother of Charles (Joanna), Phillip, Susan, the late Carole, and the late Jeffrey Wahl. Richard is also survived by his mother in-law Augustine Doane, and his nephews and nieces. Visitation for Mr. Wahl will be Sunday from 3-9pm with at 7pm Scripture Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ mile). Mr. Wahl will lie in state Monday 9:30am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 11200 Twelve Mile Rd. in Warren, until the time of the Funeral Mass 10am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr.
