Rick was the beloved husband of the late Linda and the former husband of his good friend, Cathy. He was the devoted father of the late Christopher, a loving stepfather to Raychele, Roxanne, and Karla, and step grandfather of Alexis. He was the treasured brother of the late Christine Warnez, the late Jerry Warnez, Patty (Jim) Kozlowske, and Greg Warnez. Rick was also a cherished uncle to Michael (Ethel), Kari, Sean (Silvie), Sandi, Sammi (James), Shashonnah (Josh), Alishah (Noah), and Alex. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Rick believed deeply in the values of integrity, hard work, and always providing for those he loved. He took great pride in caring for his family and considered it to be his life's greatest responsibility and accomplishment. Family was always his highest priority, and he demonstrated his love through his unwavering support, dedication, and selflessness. He was very close to his children, and the time he spent with them was among his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment together.
Rick found peace and happiness in nature. He especially enjoyed being in Glennie, where many of his favorite memories were made. As a young man, he loved fishing, riding dirt bikes with his brothers, embracing adventure, and the outdoors. In later years he took tremendous pride in caring for his home, spending countless hours tending to his yard, nurturing his garden, and maintaining the pond that brought him so much enjoyment. Rick embraced the slower pace of life after retiring. It gave him more time to spend with family, care for his home, and devote himself to the hobbies he loved most, especially woodworking.
Rick was known for his kindhearted nature and wonderful sense of humor. He appreciated a good prank, whether it came from family or coworkers, and could laugh at himself as easily as he laughed with others. He was also known for playfully stirring the pot from time to time, always in good fun, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm when a short prayer and eulogy will be given by his brother, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren.
In lieu of flowers any donations made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be deeply appreciated.
