Richard started dating the love of his life, Dolores, when they were both in high school. They started dating October 27, 1975 and were finally married June 22, 1979 at St. Martin de Porres. They both graduated the same year, 1976, from Cousino’s High School. He started his own company named J.R. & D in 1988. He made custom nuts and bolts from plastics, titanium, etc., for anything from automotive parts to parts for the Zilwaukee Bridge. He ran the business for 30 years, closing the doors in 2018. Richard loved his motorcycles. He has owned them from the age of 16 and loved to ride them anywhere and everywhere. He bought his first Harley in 2003. He traveled to Florida for bike week and to Milwaukee for Harley Davidson’s 100th anniversary. Richard was an athlete; he was a catcher in baseball, played soccer and was a great bowler. His love of soccer was passed down to his children. He coached all three of his children’s Warren Youth soccer teams. He also sat on the board as Field Coordinator for the Special Olympics. When he was not involved in sports, he loved to watch them. Detroit Red Wings were his favorite hockey team but he was a Buckeye when it came to football. He would say, “My two favorite teams are Ohio State and whoever is versing Michigan.”
Richard leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Dolores. His caring children Jonathan (Krystal) Whitehouse, Elizabeth (Justin) Nowicki, and Jennifer (Nathaniel) Bond. His cherished grandchildren Alexis Whitehouse, Brennan Whitehouse, Annalia Nowicki, and Dorothy Bond. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Private family services will be held due to restrictions. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, at Masonic, in Warren.
