Robert G. Lobdell, "Bob" age 86, died peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born May 9,1934 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of the late Donald and Sylvia (nee: Lauinger) Lobdell.
Born and raised in Detroit, Bob went to school and graduated from Denby High. After graduation, he attended college and spent two years in the United States Coast Guard. Once Bob was out of college, he met a wonderful woman named Sue Winegarden as he was vacationing in northern Michigan. Shortly thereafter, they married on June 21, 1961. Together, they began and built a life in Clinton Township. They had four children: Bobby, David, Jamie, and Julie. The two of them were married for 29 years.
For 37 years, Bob was employed with Ameritech/AT&T with positions in sales and sales management. He was loved and respected by so many throughout his career. Bob eventually moved to Fenton where he spent the final 20 years of his life. While in Fenton, he met Joyce Eaton, his loving companion for the last eight years. Over their years together they visited family, watched sporting events, and cared for their dog, Cooper.
Bob was happiest anywhere and anytime he was surrounded by boats and sports. In his free time, you could find him building replica models from scratch, and even had a few boats of his own throughout his life. Bob traveled to many sporting events, usually involving his children or grandchildren, and watched any that he could on TV. He especially cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild at the many family gatherings and holidays.
Bob was the beloved father of Bob (Amy) Lobdell, David (Jackie) Lobdell, Jamie Lobdell, and Julie (Jerry) Pankowski. He was a loving grandpa to Lauren, Lindsey, Lesley, Lexie, Shelby, Robert, Lanie, Sydney, Matthew, Lyndie, Michael, and great-grandpa to Mya. He was the dearest companion to Joyce Eaton.
Due to the current pandemic regulations, private arrangements have been made. Bob will be inurned, with full military honors, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
