Robert J. McIsaac, age 64 of Warren, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Detroit. He was born on October 13, 1948 in Detroit, son of the late William and the late Alice (nee: Morris) McIsaac. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Robert for his service to our country during the Vietnam War. A decorated veteran and soldier in the U.S. Army, he served from April 1968 thru January 1970 and attained the rank of Private First Class. For the sacrifices made and the call to duty he so proudly served, we honor Robert for his bravery and for standing in the fray on our behalf in preserving the freedoms and liberties we hold so dearly.Robert worked for the city of Warren as an employee in their water department. When he wasn't working, one of his greatest passions was playing the game of poker. He loved giving Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money, and a rousing game of poker always seemed to fit the bill. He truly enjoyed hosting poker nights at his house, but the ultimate entertainment and poker satisfaction was enjoyed in the trips he took to the gambling mecca, Las Vegas. Being of Scottish descent, he was most proud of his heritage,...and never more proud and enthused than when he finally got the chance to step on his homeland's soil in Scotland. That trip impacted him greatly and he brought back many wonderful memories of the country and its people. Of all the aspects of his roots that stirred him the most, nothing could match the joy and pleasure he derived from hearing the familiar tunes of the bagpipes. He absolutely loved bagpipe music and the uniqueness of its sound. It always seemed to soothe his soul.In recounting some of Robert's favorite things, there definitely needs to be a mention of just how treasured and cherished he held the tradition of the family's annual Thanksgiving dinner. Sitting around the table with loved ones, stuffing himself to oblivion, and sharing in the whole holiday experience made for many awesome and precious memories which he held close to his heart. And who can forget "Tequila Tuesday's?" Lastly, there's a time-worn question that has reverberated throughout the years, "Do dogs go to Heaven?" Well, for those who knew Robert and believe they do, then your hearts will be warmed at the thought of Robert, finally, being reunited with his beloved, Bobbie McGee, his furry friend who was just like his kid, and preceded him in death. Robert was the dear brother of Patricia (James) Carion, Jeanette (Butch) Weaver, the late Mary (Ray) Hessling, and the late Sally (Roger) Wert. He was also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Robert will be held on Wednesday, August 7th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren. His Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday at the funeral home. Please share memories of Robert at his memory book.
