Robert Mark Pomaville

Rob was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up there before attending Main East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, where he played football. Later, he moved to Michigan with his family. As the fifth of seven children, family remained at the center of his life.

Throughout his life, Rob took pride in his work. He enjoyed working as a cement worker and landscaper, but his favorite job was as a cook at Blue Gables, where he was able to share his passion for preparing great food. He was especially known for his delicious homemade soups and his famous "Rob Special" sandwiches, which family and friends always looked forward to.

A devoted Detroit sports fan, Rob faithfully cheered for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Sundays during football season meant family, chicken cooked by Rob, and cheering on the Lions together. He especially admired Tigers shortstop, Kevin McGonigle. Rob also had an incredible knowledge of sports trivia and seemed to know every song playing on the radio.

When he wasn't watching a game, Rob could often be found enjoying old movies, crime shows, comedies, or working on search puzzles. He was known for his dry, witty sense of humor and his favorite expression, "Watch it!"—a phrase that always brought a smile to those who knew him.

Rob had a special bond with his rescue dog, Annie. The two were inseparable and especially loved taking car rides together. He also treasured time with his nieces and nephews, whether they were playing games indoors or tossing a football around the yard.

Kindness and quiet generosity defined Rob's life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, checked in on neighbors, and cared faithfully for his mother and later for his brother, Tim, during his illness. He also volunteered at St. Veronica's fish fries—even though he was allergic to fish—simply because he wanted to help.

While Rob sometimes found it difficult to express his feelings in words, those who knew him understood the depth of his love. He showed it through his loyalty, his cooking, his humor, his acts of service, and the countless ways he cared for family, friends, and neighbors. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to those fortunate enough to know him. At the end of his life, he wanted everyone to know how much he loved them.

Rob was the loving brother of Linda (Jim) Geghen, Michael (Lisa) Pomaville, Sandra Pomaville, Jeffrey (Pamela) Pomaville, and the late Richard and the late Timothy Pomaville. Cherished uncle of Jimmy, Joey, Tracy, Michael, and Kimberly. Also survived by many loving great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Max and Violet Pomaville.

A Memorial Visitation for Rob will be held on Tuesday, August 11th from 11am-1:30pm with a Memorial Service at 1:30pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093.
