With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Robert for his service to our country during World War II. As a soldier in the U.S. Army, he was assigned to Company “C”, the 7th Battalion of the 2nd Regiment, one of the many valiant souls who were part of the Army’s ground forces. Inducted at the young age of 19, Robert served with honor and distinction, and we extend our posthumous gratitude for the sacrifices made and for his answering the call to duty when Uncle Sam came calling. He truly was part of our country’s “Greatest Generation.”
A bit later down the road, Robert’s employment picture would entail the career he so enjoyed working with the folks at TACOM in Warren. Robert was quite the precise and proficient kind of guy whose detailed expertise were highly regarded and put to work as one of the company’s Production Planners. Following 38 years of loyal and dedicated service, Robert finally accepted his well-deserved retirement and embarked on the next chapter of his life.
Truth-be-told,…Robert’s detail-oriented nature was part of his ENTIRE life, not just that at work. In all he touched and was a part of in life, the evidence of Robert’s skills and talents were scene and witnessed by everyone. Robert was truly proud of his signature on each project of which he was engaged.
Robert enjoyed a host of pastimes that filled his life when work wasn’t calling, one of which was his association and membership with the B.P.O.E, (Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks). As a dedicated and loyal lodge member, Robert was an integral part of the community outreach that generated from the fraternal organization. He also found great pleasure and reward in the fraternal relationships he shared with his fellow Elks. Known for their immense care towards community needs, Robert was always willing to go the extra mile in meeting those needs as best he could.
Some other of Robert’s favorite pastimes were derived in his sporting pleasures, specifically through the games of softball and volleyball. Though he played both throughout his life, a notable mention would have to be the fact that he competed in both even into his 80’s. He just wanted to make sure that he would enjoy a long and healthy retirement. Quiet retirement moments were often filled with his television watching favorites, Gunsmoke, and most any western themed movie he could find while channel surfing.
But without question, Robert’s passion for his flower garden reigned supreme. Along with exercising that incredible green thumb of his, it was the immense amount of tender-loving-care he poured into his garden that defined Robert’s passion. To look upon his garden was truly a feast for the eyes as his prized roses offered a visual splendor for all who partook.
Unique to Robert was the tradition he shared each day at 4:00 pm with his beloved Elizabeth, known affectionately as “Wine Time.” Much like the Brit’s and their 4:00 Tea break, Robert and Elizabeth created quite the romantic interlude of sharing their drinks of choice, him Red and hers White,…and always “just 2 fingers” full, measured by using the width between the index & pinky fingers. Yes, Robert had aa great sense of humor, too.
Considered to be kindhearted and soft spoken, Robert also possessed the heart of a servant as evidenced by his willingness to help anybody in any way he was able. Being the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, Robert always attempted to be as cognizant as possible so as to be of help whenever and wherever a need arose. It was simply his way of living out the principle of the Golden Rule.
Yet of all the people he cared for the most, nothing could compare with the love he held for his dear family. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert poured the best of his nature and character into the loved ones he was blessed to call family. Always seeking to be a loving example to those who looked up to him, Robert leaves a legacy of love that is sure to be embraced with each reflection shared. He touched a multitude of hearts and souls in his journey this side of Heaven,…may he know enjoy the blessings on the other side as he rests safely in the arms of God.
Robert was the beloved husband of Elizabeth. Dear father of Dale (Linda) Frederick, Christopher (Suzanne) Popp, and Lisa (Joseph) Moceri. Loving grandfather of Rebecca (Justin) Jilg, Jenifer, Ross (Shelby), Nicholas (Ashley Zurawski), Joshua, and great-grandfather of Teddy, Cooper, Cade, Pavel, Imre, and Baby Moceri arriving in January 2022.
