Ronald Clarence Bennett, age 77 of Eastpointe, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at home. He was born October 17, 1937 in Detroit, son of the late Eldred and the late Eva (nee: Yorke) Bennett.Like most men, Ron enjoyed his sporting pleasures. In his younger days when the body was more agile and participating was more of an option, he loved playing golf and softball. As the years progressed, Ron's participating days were replaced with the pleasure of watching sports on television,…of which he was the perfect "Armchair Athlete." And though he liked most all sports, there was no question of his loyalty to the Red Wings and the Tiger's. He loved his hockey and baseball BIG-TIME! For Ron with a B,…it was all about his Sports in the "D." Another aspect of his sporting appetite was enjoyed deer hunting up north. But for Ron, that meant WAY up north in the upper peninsula in the city of Sundell (near Munising, MI) where he and a few of his buddies shared something quite special. Calling themselves the "Snow Owls Hunt Club," together, they owned a 900 acre parcel of land upon which they built a beautiful 2500 square foot lodge to enjoy between their hunting ventures. A lifelong member, with over 50 years under his belt, Ron was renowned and appreciated as a cook for the gathered masses,…and managed to work some magic in that kitchen of his. He thoroughly enjoyed his years with the gang and the many wonderful memories they made and shared together.Ron was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn. Dear father of Susan (John) Riem, Ronald Bennett, and Robert (Mary) Bennett. Cherished grandfather of Aiden and Isabelle. Loving friend of Dee Schuchard. A Memorial Visitation for Ron will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 3-7 pm, with a 7:00 pm Memorial Service, at the D.S. Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ mile) in Warren. Please share memories of Ron at his memory book above.
