Sally was born and raised in Sterling Heights, where she grew up surrounded by family, friends, and the community she cherished. She attended Warren High School and carried the lessons and friendships from those years throughout her life.
On March 28, 1960, Sally married the love of her life, her late husband Larry. Their marriage was a true partnership—full of laughter, devotion, and the simple joys they shared together. Though Larry has preceded her in passing, their bond remained a guiding light in her life.
Sally worked for many years as a stocker at K-Mart, where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm smile. Outside of work, she filled her days with the things and people she loved most. She was an avid bowler and a devoted crafter, always creating something beautiful with her hands. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by her kindness and steady love.
She found peace in her flower garden, delight in long walks, and endless happiness in the music of Elvis. A loyal Detroit Tigers fan, she rarely missed a game. Sally also had a special place in her heart for her cats, who were constant companions and sources of comfort.
Sally will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creativity, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched.
Sally was the beloved wife of the late Larry Dunbar. Loving mother of Dennis (Sherry) Dunbar, Tina (Don) Phillips, Scott Dunbar, and Sheree Parker. Cherished grandmother of Samantha Ketchum, Andrew (Amanda) Hoose, Ashley Dunbar, Angelic (Chris) Harrison, Donald Dunbar, Kathryn Galbriath, and Christopher Parker. Adored great-grandmother of Scott Moran, Zoey Ketchum, Graycelyn Harrison, Cayden Harrison, Hadley Hoose, Adalyn Ketchum, Skylar Dunbar-Hernandez, Holly Dunbar-Hernandez, Bailee Ketchum, Maverick Harrison, and Riley Harrison. Dear sister of Morris (Betty) Defever, Shirley (the late Jerry) Hall, and the late Robert Defever.
