

In 1952 he came to the United States, arriving in Detroit through Michigan Central Station. He lived in Corktown and attended trade school at Cass Tech. In 1954, he met Mary when they both were standing up in Mary’s sister’s wedding.
On December 1st, 1956, he and Mary were married. In 1962, they moved to Warren where they raised their three children. They would have been married for 69 years this December 1st.
Sam worked for the Ford Motor Company for 38 years and was a proud UAW committee man. He enjoyed building, carving, painting, baking, and tinkering. He was a proud grandpa and nunnu to his two grandsons and three great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Cassar), his children, James Galea, Kathryn (Dan) Bartley, and David (Gail) Galea, his grandsons, David (Caitlin) Klotzer and Kyle (Hope) Klotzer, and three great grandchildren, Joseph, Riley and Emily, his sister, Stella Farrugia, sister-in-law, Carmen Galea, and brother and sister-in-law, Felix and Connie Grech, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and friends,
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Galea of Malta, his brother, Joseph, and sister-in-law, Mary Galea of Australia, and his brother, Charlie Galea of Australia.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 East 14 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48312, on December 12th, 2025, with an instate starting at 10:30am until the time of the mass at 11:00am.
