Sherry Ann Blazicek, age 77 of Warren, died Friday, October 7, 2016 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was born November 22, 1938 in Highland Park, daughter of the late William and the late Virginia (nee: Fitzsimmons) Gorshe. To those who were blessed to know this wonderful lady, they'll be able to attest to just how selfless and caring she was to all. Therein it should be no surprise that when Sherry chose to work outside of the house, her heart was drawn to the field of patient care where she served as a nurse's aide in the nursing home environment. Possessing the "right stuff" for such a demanding field of work, Sherry poured the best part of herself into making the lives of others more comforted by doing what simply came natural for her. Yet for as much as she gave on the job, Sherry's truest calling was found in her role as a Homemaker & Mom. After sharing those life-changing words with Rodney, "I Do,"… she went on to do,…and do…,and do,…and always with the heart of a servant and the patience of a saint. Making her house a "home" was the loving mission she undertook each and every day, and from a giving spirit that was both influential and inspiring. When the family was taken care of and the house was in order, her next favorite place to be was out in the yard working her magic as the resident landscaper. Just as the tending to her family took major precedence, next in line was the curb appeal of her yard to the neighbors and passers-by. Extending the finer points of her tender-loving-care and green thumb, Sherry's yard was like something out of "House Beautiful" magazine,…and was certainly a reflection of the care she poured into its appearance. Even more so, her yard held something extra special that set it apart from the rest. Somewhere down the way, Sherry had come to appreciate the beauty of rocks and began collection them. As soon as they made their way home, she would always manage to place them in the yard,…both strategically and creatively for all to share. Another aspect that set Sherry apart was her passion to see that every belly was fed. Oh sure,…most Mom's, just like Sherry, are magician's in the kitchen and can whip up something spectacular without much effort. But for Sherry, she was like the satellite for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in making sure that ALL mouths were fed and nourished. Like the old adage states; "when you're eating, you're happy,"…and that was like gospel to Sherry. And to take it just a step further, cooking & entertaining were never more special and motivating than when she was doing it for her family and loved ones. A meal at Sherry's place was more than merely the opportunity of satisfying one's tummy,…it was truly a blessing. Saying good-bye to those we love never, really, comes at a good time, but this couldn't have been more timely for Sherry as Fall was her absolute favorite season of the year. The crispness in the air, the falling leaves, the anticipation of the coming holidays, the smell of fireplace smoke caressing the senses, the warmth of cinnamon sugar donuts being washed down with fresh-squeezed apple cider,…it all made for the time of year that brought Sherry exceeding joy and pleasure. Though we miss her much, that joy and pleasure is now being far outweighed by an entirely different kind of "forever season" that beats the best Fall she ever knew. Sherry was also known for her love of the water, and her appreciation for the soothing sounds of wind blowing through the trees. Couple that with being a resident Michigander,…and Sherry pretty much had the world by the tail. Lots 'O' Trees & Lots 'O' Water made for a very happy Sherry. The Triple Crown was definitely the stays she enjoyed with her son, Steve at his home in western Michigan. The dichotomy between the east and west is near mind-blowing, so there was always a high level of excitement for Sherry with each visit shared.Yet of all life's passions, there was no mistaking the love and fervor that Sherry held for her precious grandchildren. Esteemed immensely for her generosity and kindness, these are merely two of the many traits that she showered upon her treasured cherubs,…and is what made her heart sing with every reunion. They were the wind beneath her wings, the reason and motivation for carrying on, and were truly the pot 'O' gold at the end of her rainbow. To say "they were her life" would be merely scratching the surface of the depths her love held for each one of them. There's never been a more cherished Grandma than Sherry!A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Sherry leaves a legacy of love for all to embrace with each reflection shared. Whether at home, at work, the marketplace or with a neighbor, she was the kind of person who always considered the needs of others ahead of her own and would go to any length to meet their needs as best she could. In that vein, Sherry touched a multitude of hearts and lives along the way and will be missed immensely by the countless souls she affected. May she, now, rest in peace.Sherry was the beloved wife of Rodney. Dearest mother of Steve Blazicek and Dawn Blum. Loving Busia of Nicholas, Sarah, Jack, Kyle, and Allison. Sister of the late James Gorshe. Visitation for Sherry will be held Thursday, October 13th from 3-9pm, with a 6:00 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S.
