Joe, a native of metro Detroit, began his lifelong journey in the grocery industry at the tender age of 12 when he took his first steps into the world of work at Wrigley’s. It was a journey that became more than just a career; it was his passion. His dedication and hard work led him to retire as the produce manager at Kroger, a place he considered not just his workplace but also his second home. Kroger was more than just a job to Joe; it was a part of his identity and a frequent topic of his conversations.
In March of 1959, Joe found not only his calling but also the love of his life when he married Evelyn. Their union lasted for 64 beautiful years. It was at Kroger where their paths first crossed, and their love story began. Joe and Evelyn's relationship was a testament to the power of love and commitment.
Joe had a heart that was as vast as the friendships he made. He was a friend to everyone he met, and no one was a stranger in his eyes. He had an innate ability to make people feel valued and cherished, and his warm, welcoming nature drew people to him. He was a true people person, and his presence lit up any room he entered.
Family was at the center of Joe's world. He treasured the moments spent with loved ones and prioritized the bonds he shared with family members. His love, guidance, and support will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe had a few other loves in his life, too. He had a deep appreciation for good food and enjoyed savoring the flavors of life. He was an ardent fan of cars, had a passion for sports, a keen interest in staying informed through watching the news, and a fondness for classic icons like John Wayne and the Fonz (which he also asked to be referred to as on occasion).
As we bid farewell to Joe, we remember a man who left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His warmth, kindness, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to know him. Joe's legacy lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared.
Joe was the beloved husband of Yvonna "Evelyn" Ranger. Loving father of Cheri (Mark) Kaake, the late Michael Joseph Ranger, and the late Kim (Darrell) Ault. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer Kaake, Mark (Despi) Kaake, Danielle (Eric) Parham, and Jason Ault. Adored great-grandfather of Audra Kaake, Shelline Kaake, and Elena Kaake. Dear brother of the late Thomas (the late Delores) Ranger. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
