Stephanie Kostusyk

Stephanie Kostusyk, age 84 of Warren, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born on October 3, 1926 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Nykyta and the late Teofilia (nee: Mazaj) Bachynski. Along with her maternal and homemaker duties, Stephanie was also employed outside of the house where she held the position of Controller for two different companies, Bernal Rotary Systems and Thermal Electron. When it came to her favorite pastimes, without a doubt, traveling was her passion. Even after succombing to a serious automobile accident in 1991 that found her bound to a wheelchair, Stephanie remained resilient in her desire to see the world. One of her favorite modes of travel was aboard the various cruise ship lines that took her to places such as Hawaii, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Alaska. She loved to see the sights and experience the many varied cultures of the vast array of destinations she visited. Another mode of travel she enjoyed were the annual "snowbird" treks she took to her winter home in Lake Wales, Florida. Escaping the wintry challenges of the Mitten State, Stephanie found great delight in the warmth and comforts of the Sunshine State. She was also quite adept in her seamstress skills and used this bit of artistry in making outfits for her porcelein doll collection. Her dolls brought her countless hours of joy and pleasure, and their entry in various contests found her the lucky recipient of numerous awards. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Stephanie touched many hearts along life's way, and leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in all of those hearts who were blessed to know her. She will be immensely missed and eternally loved. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Dear mother of Joseph, Judith Hunter, and Stephanie Nowak. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Stephanie will be held on Thursday, August 25th from 6-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Friday from 9:00am until the time of Mass at 9:30am at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren. Officiating the liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Stephanie at her guest book.
