

Stephen William Burt, age 68 and longtime resident of Roseville, Michigan, died Monday, September 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was born October 25, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Glenn Burt and the late Rose (nee: Hufnagel) Burt.Throughout his work life, Stephen was employed by the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in both Detroit and Grosse Pointe, a career which spanned over 42 years. In addition to his letter carrying duties, Stephen served as the Union Steward and Union Official for the N.A.L.C. Stephen was very proud of his service with the Postal Service, as well as his many years of assisting fellow employees.Stephen had a passion for his family and helping others. He was truly a servant of Christ and later in his life would follow his wife into Catholicism. He was baptized, received first communion, and later confirmed into Catholic life all in one year. Stephen was truly a giver of his time and talents. He was a beekeeper who produced and sold his honey, along with volunteering his time at the Belle Isle Zoo attending to the bees. Stephen was Mr. Fix-it to his family and many others... He could fix or repair just about anything. Stephen was an avid photographer who chronicled the family gatherings through his lens, and also photographed many beautiful nature scenes.Stephen and his wife Annette raised six wonderful children in a loving and nurturing home where family gatherings were cherished after the children left to begin family's of their own. Over the years, Stephen and his wife Annette found great delight in traveling and enjoyed visiting such destinations as Hawaii, Florida, Philadelphia, Washington State, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.Stephen Burt was the beloved husband of 33 years to Annette, and was the dear father of Colleen (Steve), Stephen (Kim), Jason (Betty), Cheryl, David, and Katie Rose (Chris). Loving grandfather of Stephen (Susie), Kristi (Judah), Zander, Breanna, and great-grandfather of Venture. He was the dearest brother of Tom (Irene), Alison (Michael) Willett, and the late Brian (Dawn). Visitation for Stephen will be held Thursday, September 29th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Vigil Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Mr. Burt will lie in state on Friday from 11:30am until time of the Funeral Mass at 12 Noon at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Catholic Church (formerly St. Athanasius) in Roseville. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Stephen's brother in-law, the Most Reverend Bishop Walter Hurley and Reverend Fr. Greg Rozborski.
