Stephen Risner

Stephen Risner, Sr,. age 76, died Friday, October 30, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. Stephen was born February 18, 1939 in Detroit , son of the late Chester and the late Ida (nee: Owens) Risner.Mr. Risner worked for Triple A Industries in Troy as a Process Engineer overseeing the production of parts for the aviation industry. As one would expect with the position he held, he had a tremendous love of geometry and math. Stephen was always pushing himself to learn more. He was an early adopter of computers and actually taught himself CAD Cam. Not only did Mr. Risner use his handyman skills and technical savvy at work, he often put his skills to work creating, building, and repairing things at home,...even to the extent of building boats!Stephen was a music aficionado, he loved jazz and classic rock, often jamming out on his reel player Sunday mornings to the likes of: Santanta, Pink Floyd, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Frank Sinatra, to name a few.Mr. Risner was also an avid deer hunter who enjoyed his time spent in the woods waiting for the perfect deer to enter his cross hairs. His love of the woods also translated to many memorable family camping trips as well.Family trips were always special to Stephen; it was at these times that he was able to spend time with the one's he loved the most. Mr. Risner's love of family started with his parents, Chester & Ida, with whom he maintained a close bond unto his final days. It was his parents who taught him to love, and it was this guidance that helped him share his entire heart with his loving wife and devoted children. He often boasted about his children and how proud he was of the people they had become. As Stephen's children grew and married, they would eventually provide him the ultimate gift,...his precious grandchildren. Many of Mr. Risner's most cherished memories were those spent on the floor playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Risner was very proud of his country, and a true patriot, despite never having served in the military. Stephen loved studying our nation's history, especially the strategic planning and execution of the Allied Forces in WW II. His patriotism would grow even stronger following the events of 9/11. Watching the fall of the World Trade Center towers inspired Stephen to become even more deeply involved with both social and political events.Mr. Risner was the devoted husband to his "little angel" Kathleen. He was the proud father of Lori Marie (Dan) Murphy (nee Risner), Stephen (Sandra) Risner Jr., James Jason Risner, William (Kristi) Shorter, and Patricia (Jason) Bajaj. He was the beloved brother of Arnie, the late Larry, and the late Chester. He is also survived by his 10 very special grandchildren; Zachary, Tyler & Keaira Murphy; Caitlin Mae; Larry; Chloe, Ethan & Austin Shorter, and Brayden Bajaj. Visitation for Stephen will be held Monday, November 2nd from 5-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Per the family's request, there will no formal funeral services. Please share memories of Stephen at his memory book above.
