Sylvia was a devoted wife to Gary for more than 66 years. The couple married in December 1959 and shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and cherished memories. She was the loving mother of Herbert (Lori) Goldwater and Danielle Goldwater. She was a proud grandmother to the late Francesca Munafo, Natalie (Aaron) Kempter, Garik Goldwater, and Helena Goldwater; a loving great-grandmother to Morganna Pruitt, Gabriella Pruitt, and Harlow Kempter; and a proud great-great-grandmother to Simon Ronquillo. Sylvia was the beloved sister of Cathy (Gary) Payne and Robert (Mary) Hedrick, and she is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
A woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Sylvia loved reading and gardening. She took great pride in her flowers and vegetable garden, nurturing each with care. She was also a wonderful cook and baker who lovingly prepared the food for family holiday gatherings, creating meals and memories that brought everyone together. A fan of Elvis, Sylvia had her own quiet passions and a gentle presence. Her calm, reserved nature beautifully complemented Gary’s outgoing personality, making them a wonderful pair throughout their many years together.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, Michigan, on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 01:00 pm.
