Sylvia M. Klobucar

Sylvia Marie Klobucar, age 81 of Warren, and formerly a resident of Ferndale for over 35 years, died Thursday, November 09, 2006 at Autumn Wood Convalescent Center in Livonia. Sylvia was born October 20, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Henry Merritt and the late Mary (nee: Grode) Merritt. Sylvia was raised in Detroit and moved to Ferndale with her late husband Frank. She and her husband were active and longtime members of St. James Catholic Parish. Also Mrs. Klobucar was very involved with the AMVETS auxiliary, working as their Chaplin. In her younger years Sylvia worked as the fountain supervisor at Sanders Confectionery Store. When she and her husband were raising their children, they both enjoyed square dancing, and spending time with neighbor friends. Mrs. Klobucar was a member of the ladies Ferndale Knitting Club. Her children will remember their mother fondly as quite the character who was an excellent cook. Survivors include her children; Robert (Sybil), Michael (Carol), Thomas (Catherine), Stephen (Diane), and Teresa Klobucar. Sylvia is the loving grandmother of Jeffrey, Daniel, Sara, Michael, Frank, and Ethan. Other survivors include many family members and friends. Visitation for Mrs. Klobucar will be Sunday from 5-9 pm and Monday 2-9 pm, at the D.S. temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile). Mrs. Klobucar will lie in State Tuesday 9:00 am, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, until the time of the funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Celebrating the Funeral Mass will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny.
